Off Topic Questions. I'm bored today.

Is Federer finished? Will he ever win another GS? Six straight years of semis or better at the majors and now two misses consecutively...

If you're a Vegas oddsmaker, who do you install as the favorite at the US Open right now? Murray and Djokovic good on hard courts, but have struggled some this year. It's Nadal's weakest surface. Fed showing signs of decline. Berdych a semi-finalist on clay and grass already this year. Soderling may be the world's third best player right now...

Rafael Nadal will retire with _____ grand slam titles? Am I insane to think he will pass Sampras given how hard his style of play is on his body?

  1. Other than Rafa on clay, I think the field is now very open and that any player in top 10 can make a run at a grand slam. I like Novak to win Wimbledon.

  2. Nadal will pass SAMPRAS AND ROGER. Now that Roger has lost it there is nobody to stop Rafa.

  3. I think Murray breaks through at the U.S. Open.

  4. Nadal will no way break Sampras's nor Fed's GS records!!! Unless he can become a real force on hardcourts; then there's a slight possibility. Fed has 2 more GS's in him. Nadal will end up with 12.

  5. Federer will eke out one more major like Sampras did.

  6. I swear I've heard this talk about Federer being done before....oh yeah, that was 3 grand slam titles ago.

Nadal's game is way to hard on his body. You notice something that Fed and Sampras have in common? Fluid games that are easier on the body. Fed will win at least 1 more slam. Nadal will retire before he's 28 due to knee problems.

Going back to league, Lakeside barely wins 4.5 city with Westside finishing 2nd and taking the wild card if there is one.

  7. is this was the score with Coaches vs Dbags
    1. Cooper v Nguyen 6-3, 7-6
    2. Roberts v Borkop 2-6, 2-6 (maybe 2 & 3)
    1. Mcillvane/Layman vs Chavarria-Dugas
    2. Weaver/Norkus vs Andres/Huffman 7-6, 0-2
    3. Tielke /pepper vs tran 1-4

did line 1 dubs start and what was the score. looks like you have to go to the score card if there was a rain delay, just like blacksheeps and canesIII. is that correct?

  8. Federer will win 1 more GS due to a combination of experience, mega-match toughness and luck (just like Pete stole his last one).

Rafa won't catch Pete because he's just not that dominant on hardcourts.

  9. if Deucebags make it into playoffs, i'd pick them to make it to sectional out of houston.

  10. The D-bags have a lot of lesser talent on the team that will be fighting for playing time during City Playoffs. Depending on captain Tran's line ups, they might not make it out of the City this year. He will have to sit a lot of 'friends' since every team is pretty deep this year.

  11. I think Federer will win one or two more.

I am not sure about Nadal. Are his knees really bad, or are they an excuse for losing? I am not sure. He could easily win 3 or 4 more French titles and I think he will the US Open at some point.

  12. Nadal's style may be draining, but he keeps his body a lot fitter than Federer ever did. That will extend his career.

  13. Why is Santiago DQ Locke not in the 4.5 survey?

    ReplyDelete
  14. he didn't make the playoffs

  15. So, with the raining dampening all the last minutes make-up. What going to happen for tomorrow with playoff being scheduled?

  16. Playoffs will be a clusterfuck this year.

  17. Don't you love how the Blogger who is co captain of NOHO tries to change the subject, of who will play for NOHO and who will play for their respective Houston teams, with a new thread about Fed and Nadals grand slam projections!!! really hilarious

  18. Who cares about the NOHO team, they have a free pass to Sectionals and are expected to be competitive with a good chance to advance to Nationals.

The time now is to talk about the city playoffs, and whether any of the matches will be played today or delayed due to rain.

  19. Who won against Katy Coaches vs. D-Bags?

  20. One match in 4.5 is going to take place. Westheimer Indoors vs Hurricanes will play tonight. Any predictions?

    ReplyDelete
  21. if bharath is committed to noho, then i pick titans 4-1. it he plays tonight, then i pick titans 3-2. sarosh will lose to ford this time

  22. Is there a reason that GTAC's match with Lakeside Estates from a month ago has not been made up? GTAC should be eliminated from playoff consideration as technically the match should go down as a double default.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wrong team playing Westheimer Indoors. Sarosh and Bharath would be playing at Westside tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Who in the canes lineup tonight will win vs. westheimer indoors?

  25. In before that other dude says "Whoever plays against Ken Douds."

    Seriously though, is Burmann playing?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Pretty sure Burrmman has committed to Noho.

  27. Federer will win one or two more like Sampras did. Nadal may win a few more. Murray will never win anything. There are all sorts of people who will win a grand slam before Murray will (like me, and all of you). We've seen the best of Murray.

    Djokovic may do some more.

  28. Did Duecebags win, and have they played Lakeside Estates yet?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Duecebags secure second spot. GTAC wasn't complete w Lakeside Estates, but it doesn't matter.

    Playoff teams are finalized

    Lakeside
    Deucebags
    WSTC Black Sheep
    Hurricanes II
    Hurricanes III
    Westheimer Indoor

  30. Vamos Rafa !!!!!!!!!

  31. Gotta love, Rafa. He can play line #2 singles on 4.5 team anytime.

  32. Federer is still favored at the Open: Odds

  33. Interesting odds.

I'll put 10 bucks on Isner at 60-1. At least if it goes 5 sets, we know he is ready.

  34. Have players that are going to playoffs with NOHO had to declare yet? Seems like that should have happened before the start of Houston Citywides

  35. Have players that are going to playoffs with NOHO had to declare yet? Seems like that should have happened before the start of Houston Citywides

    ReplyDelete
  36. Is there an official declaration? It's just a matter if they are played and it's recorded into tennis link right?

    ReplyDelete
  37. No they have to notify the HTA which league they plan on playing post-season.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think HTA was going to ask captains to declare playoff rosters. Since Freeman is NOHO captain and also captains 2 of the HTA playoff teams, it would be completely unfair for them not to have to declare so that other captains had the same knowledge. It's already kind of sketchy that Freeman will be captaining against himself in City.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Do MYR come out before or after playoffs?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I agree that a player has to declare to HTA which team he will play on, but why should the other captains be notified? Captains should be prepared to play against players on the opposing team's roster.

Wouldn't it be unfair that an opposing captain is notified ahead of time which player is available for the match.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have never been informed ahead of time by the HTA what players will/will not be playing for my opposing teams unless I requested it from the HTA.
