Somewhat Off Topic

I just came across these statistics from the Southern section. I'm sure the Texas numbers are quite similar. I've always felt that 4.5 and 5.0 players were a bit snobbish and overly cocky, but now that I see that they're among the top 5 percent of tennis players perhaps it's a bit more justified than I thought.

It's interesting to see that about half of the self rated players have their ratings adjusted at the end of the year. Perhaps more of these players should be "bumped up" during the season as opposed to after year end. Only 3 percent of players were moved down. That number seemed higher this year in Houston and Texas, especially 5.0's being moved down.

  1. How does someone get bumped down from 5.0 to 4.5? Is there a difference from a Tournament Player and League Player getting an NTRP Rating. What about getting a rating from Mixed?

  2. Peter get a life, we're not getting paid to play the sport to be this serious, i think you should take up another sport that you can be good at ...for your age, i don't think your tennis form, strokes and skills are good enough to be whining and griping regarding houston tennis.

  3. Who is Peter? as referred in the last comment.
By the way, the blogger is someone that can write well with few if any grammatical mistakes. And, this person has a good familiarity with the 4.0 to 5.0 players.

  4. I believe the Peter being referred to is Peter Rothe. While Peter probably has the knowledge to write the blog and his writing style is enertaining, it is not the same as that of the blogger, plus I doubt that Peter has the time.

  5. Rothe is too busy harassing folks into buying insurance
