There's not much to focus on as the season winds down. One negative to the games percentage thing is that it's hard to know at a glance where a team stands in the playoff hunt. One thing is certain: to be eligible for wild card consideration a team must finish in second place. In 4.5 we still have some battles for second: Chancellor's/Sugar Creek, No Way Out/Katy Coaches and the three way logjam between Black Sheep, Gypsies and Ssshhhwings. One wild card slot is sewn up, presumably (Copperfield or Dbags). 4.5 Playoffs begin July 7th (4.0 on June 30th), so many important matches will not be played until next week.
I know I shouldn't have to say this, but please try to refrain from the personal, non-tennis-related attacks. I try to delete them as quickly as possible, but I am certainly not monitoring this blog 24/7. Hopefully Chris will be able to get some of the ones I miss.
Blog MVP voting for 2011 will begin soon. Rios, Babu and the Sandwich Blaster are the heavy favorites.

my vote goes to Babu. Like I said, I played him in doubs...nothing special but maybe he was holding back. I bet he gets bumped up next year with all of the pub on this blog.
ReplyDeleteI second the motion on Babu. He is the silent killer that lets his racquet do the talking. Like Danny Vu, I can't figure out how he is still 4.0. He has worked diligently on his fitness and was seen sprinting up and down the hill at Sienna last Saturday in 100 degree heat. With his stature and wingspan, I would think that he is also a great basketball player.
ReplyDeleteSugarCreek put a whippin on Sweetwater last night. Only dropped 10 games in all 5 matches. Looks like they are in good position to make cities.
ReplyDeleteWho is Babu and what team does he play on? I haven't heard of him until this year.
ReplyDeleteBabu AKA "The Albatross"
ReplyDeleteWhat team does he play on and I'm assuming 4.0?
ReplyDeletebiggest dissappointment in 4.5
ReplyDelete1. chancellors
2. james bui
3. simon jim
biggest acknowledge
1. taylor
2. orozco
3. dbags win over copperfield
Props to Orozco. Orozco is a hard working player, who works with the King Daddy junior program. He could have a rematch with Hess this week this Thursday, who would you bet on? Should be a good one.
ReplyDeleteMany of the line twos may not be settled until next week.
Also, props to Westen for dealing Orozco his first loss of the year last week.
ReplyDeleteHow is jim dissapointment? I think his team is still alive
ReplyDeleteI think babu and freddy make a good doubles team, unbeatable
ReplyDeleteSimon Jim is 1-2 on the season and 1-4 if on the entire year. That would be a disappointment. Maybe he is over rated.
ReplyDeleteWhat other relatively unknow singles players looked good this summer or had good records?
ReplyDeleteBabu is 3-0 vs Vu at the Met over the past 2 months. I am surprised that he was not recruited by Freeman. He would destroy the sandwich blaster. I hear that he will be recruited by Douds next summer if he does not join Hasker on Bobo's team.
ReplyDeleteHey Nubers Guy!!! Fill us in on the playoff numbers.
ReplyDeleteBabu over Straley at Sugarcreek this morning, 6-4. Someone needs to report him to Todd.
ReplyDeleteBabu over Aadrian Hasker last week, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5
ReplyDeleteSugarcreek 4.5 locked into WC consideration.
ReplyDeleteAs Sandwich Blaster's friend, I give him my vote.
ReplyDeleteGUILLA!
Babu over Federer at Wimbledon 7-5 in 5th. Watch out, Rafa!
ReplyDeleteCopperfield just added Shaan C. Patel to kick everyone's arrrrssss.
ReplyDeletePatel? He is good but would get run by Taylor the way Taylor is playing right now.
ReplyDeleteKudrick and Patel that's a tough lineup. Blast would have to get lucky and have Taylor vs. Patel bc I think Kudrick would win against Taylor.
ReplyDeleteBabu never ceases to amaze me. We had dinner with him at Hooters the other night and he picked up the tab for everyone. We then hit golf balls over 59, trying to nail the Kim Son restaurant. He nailed the pond adjacent to the eatery several times. He also sang happy birthday with his armpit farts. He tells me that he will not play the first playoff match as he is traveling to Africa for a mission trip.
ReplyDeleteBabu has a frohawk now!
ReplyDeleteI don't know who Babu is but I sure wish he was on my team, he sounds like a total badass!
ReplyDeleteBabu, doesn't drink, but when he does...he prefers...Dos XX(Equis).
ReplyDeletestay thirsty my friend
ReplyDeletepatel, is he the 18 superchamp? he is self rated at 4.5. can someone fill me in with the guidelines. is copperfield trying to pull a fast one like last year, when they tried to get straley at 4.5. sounds like he'll get dq'd before he even plays.
ReplyDeleteBabu is the most interesting man in the world.
ReplyDeleteWhy do any of these announcers think that Oudin is any good?
ReplyDeleteoudin is a one hit wonder at US Open a few years back. she's no good.
ReplyDeleteWho does Babu play for? Does he actually exist?
ReplyDeleteI cracked up reading the lead up to the Dos XX... keep it coming Houston.
ReplyDeleteHow could someone as good as Babu exist? Blasphemy!
ReplyDeleteBabu for President
ReplyDeleteNo Way Out/Katy Coaches and the three way logjam between Black Sheep, Gypsies and Ssshhhwings.Haha...sounds funny to me.
ReplyDeleteBabu double-bageled Jesus with a ping pong paddle.
ReplyDeleteLONG LIVE BABU, YOU ARE THE MAN, A WOMAN, AN ANIMAL OR WHATEVER YOU ARE
ReplyDeleteI want to be like Babu, not like Mike
ReplyDeleteBabu for President, HTA that is.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is Babu?
ReplyDeleteBabu vs Sandwich Blaster. Who would win?
ReplyDeleteRios would crush them both .... lefthanded .... the same time.
ReplyDeleteThe only rule on superchamps is if they are ranked top 20 they must self-rate 5.5 otherwise if they were superchamps within the last 5 years they must rate min 4.5. Yeah go figure. So stupid. You can be #20 superchamp and have to self rate 5.5. You can be #21 superchamp and you are a 4.5. Once again USTA got it completely wrong. You can find someone's superchamp ranking on the TTA website.
ReplyDeletePatel is a 1-star superchamp. Shouldn't be a threat.
ReplyDeleteShaan Patel's USTA SC ranking is #133. Legit for 4.5
ReplyDeleteAt 5:29
ReplyDeleteRios would choke. Look how he did in Tyler.
Could Babu or Rios beat the Sandwich Blaster while eating a Sandwich? I think not.
ReplyDeleteSandwich Blaster for MVP!
Sandwich blaster is under investigation for the attempted murder of Jared from subway I hear... He's got my vote...
ReplyDeletegetting back to the playoffs, i think 4.0 singles is interesting. If Boone plays line 1 he could surprise some folks, he has had some success in the past. He went 3-1 last fall in 4.5 singles. I still think Vu is their ace and then maybe helani.
ReplyDeleteBabu - I invite you to play on my 5.0 Sugarcreek team.
ReplyDelete- Red
RPM Blast Vs Good Guys tonight was a good match, came down to a third set tie break in number one singles......Good Guys took it 10-6 in the tie breaker along with the match and the guarantee into the playoffs. RPMs number one doubles line looked strong, unfortunately they most likely will not get the wild card.
ReplyDeleteWhat team does Babu play for?
It's a bird, it's a plane, its Babu! I heard he plays for one of the 4.0 teams in divisions 1 to 6. In an attempt to preserve his rating, he will be unleashed upon the city during playoffs.
ReplyDeletesad that babu probably doesnt even know about this blog
ReplyDeleteRPM will easily make the playoffs.
ReplyDeletehow are you so confidant Freddy? is double trouble going to default all 5 lines to you?
ReplyDeleteHas anyone been following the Women's side? Know there's not much interest in Women or Mixed but was just wondering if Hollis has the team to go to Dallas or will she be dethroned in the same year Freeman is. It's gotta happen eventually...
ReplyDeleteEither Freeman and Benzon have lost their touch in 4.5 or they just don't care any more.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a by-product of the new ratings shellacking. Just harder to find the ringers. Say what you want and there are definitely areas that need some tuning (re. Superchamps and International players) but overall the USTA is doing the right thing with DNTRP.
ReplyDeleteAs for Betsie's team. I just took a look at who she's got. It's a solid team definitely worthy of making it to Sects but also not a sure thing like years past.
I hope everyone in 4.0 will try to get their scores in quickly this week. I don't know how the playoff seeding will be done, but if it will based strictly on numbers I'm sure that the quicker the scores are in, the quicker we can find out the playoff matchups.
ReplyDeleteIs anybody going to DQ Ben Facker? It will be funny if Freddy's team beats somebody out for the wild card that he should not have. Facker definitely increases their games percent.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, people like Douds and Ristau are asleep at the wheel.
Why DQ Facker now? Wait until they get to the playoffs and do it. It reduces the number of decent teams you have to beat in the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteBecause not DQ-ing him might keep your team out of the playoffs. Even Freddy wouldn't be dumb enough to use him in the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteBen played for Okla State on 2002, if OSU was a top 75 ranked team he would have to self rate at 5.5, if they were unranked he could self rate 5.0.
ReplyDeleteA Capt. DQ waiting to happen...
Haha since when is a D1 college player under 40 allowed to self rate 4.5??? Doesn't matter if it's top 75 school or not. He's on the edge because according to profiling, playing for D1 unranked team 30 and under is 5.5, 31-40 is 5.0. DQ for the pickins.
ReplyDeleteif he gets dq'd maybe he could move out west and work in the eagle ford shale
ReplyDelete3:32 - what are you talking about? I missed your reference.
ReplyDeleteThe DQ will give the Big Bangers 3 losses instead of 2, GTAC Capt would benefit most - what is Todd Read's email again...

ReplyDeleteGrievance Form: http://assets.usta.com/assets/1/15/11%20Local%20Grievance%20forms.pdf
let the protesting begin. captains beware
The GTAC Captain is Steve Kirk. Quick query and here is his contact info:
ReplyDeleteKirk, Steve steve.kirk@thegtac.com
Those guys will melt in the heat BTW.
Hey, don't DQ Ben. Some of those are my wins too.
ReplyDelete-4.0 bump-up Robert Kane
Too bad. You're playing with a cheater and a liar. The only way he could have rated a 4.5 if he lied on the self rate profile!
ReplyDeleteAnd Freeman and Red's teams are completely exempt from all this DQ talk?

ReplyDeletehttp://www.tulsahurricane.com/sports/m-tennis/recaps/093001aaa.html#_
Ben Facker Google results, he is a "S" self rate currently
hahahahahahaha at 4:36,
ReplyDeleteplease delete 4:35. the hurricanes should not be mentioned in this blog anymore!!
rios for MVP. he took out sandwich blaster 6-3 6-4
To the web designer ass-hat at OSU: I realize you are in Stillwater, OK and have nothing else to do, but please don't make that crap video auto-play when the web page opens.
ReplyDeleteI think I am filing the protest based on the construction of the web page.
Sorry Ben.
fracking? he is a fracker.
ReplyDelete@4:38
ReplyDeleteSandwich Blaster would never lose to Rios, you are a fool and a blog bs junkie.
When the Sandwich Blaster stops cowering in 4.0 and dares to set foot in 4.5 we'll talk. Till then Rios is blog MVP.
ReplyDeleteBabu has been undefeated for the last 12 months in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Beat that Rios! Babu is the world's most interesting man. Stay thirsy my friends.
ReplyDeleteI'm all for beating Rios.
ReplyDeletethis is Timothy. I admit my loss to Rios. he is just a better than i am. i vote RIOS for MVP.
ReplyDeleteThis is Pete, Tim you are a lying sack of poop.
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows Babu will rule the city at playoffs.
ReplyDeletebabu is going to win wimbledon, mens, womens, mixed, juniors, and seniors, you are the man
ReplyDeletei love wimbledon...i love grass!
ReplyDeleteI love weed
ReplyDeleteBabu is kinda like Bigfoot. Rarely sighted and mostly mythical. He'll probably be busy getting pushed out of an airplane in a kayak and won't show for city playoffs.
ReplyDeleteRios, on the hand, is everywhere. The dude has played almost 100 USTA matches in the last year. You know he's gonna be there for city playoffs, playing a 3rd set tiebreaker in every single freaking match.
Gotta go with Rios for blog MVP.
I would also like to confess my love for grass, weed and this blog!! Stay stony my friend.
ReplyDeleteChong
Ok, I've check games won percentages for 4.5. Here's my latest playoff predictions:
ReplyDeleteDivision winners - LCC, Hurricanes, Copperfield, Blast and Taylor/Schwinggg winner
Wildcards - Blacksheep, Deucebags, Sugarcreek
Chong is that you??!! This is Cheech!!! How've you been since our movie?
ReplyDeleteTim puts weed in his sandwiches before every match. I wish I was joking... But that Guy loves him a dubi between sets.
ReplyDeleteisn't Dubi a country? I thought they have tennis tournaments there
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to Troy Gor? He was a beast at the playoffs last year. Did the battle of the 4 footers (Gor vs Hoang) ever happen?
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaha, Unicorns Lost tonight to Sienna Ace and Spinners!!!! LMFAO!!! YESS YESS! YESS YESS!!!!!!!!! LETS GO!!! But Im pretty sure they put their D Line up in. No Soto, Virani, or Sandwich Blaster in Singles. Doubles was a joke as well. Im glad they lost, finally someone beat them cocky cheerleaders.
ReplyDeletemaybe they lost on purpose?
ReplyDelete@11:53 how did you know that Unicorns lost to Sienna last night? Are you sure???
ReplyDeleteI guess Peter Borkop isn't going to play in the playoffs for the Hurricane since he didn't play any matches for them.
ReplyDeleteaccording to the team captain. the unicorns' loss would give them a chance to avoid us (the hurricanes) in the playoffs.
ReplyDeletelooks to me like a tank job gone wrong.
don't be full of yourself, yo! your hurricane team ain't that good.
ReplyDeletemost over-rated player is kristi yamaguchi. i am not impressed.
