Commenting has been fast and furious of late, so I'll start a new thread.
Did rain affect any matches yesterday?
Not too much of interest last night at LLTC, other than the constantly circling helicopter. I DID finally get to meet the Sandwich Blaster. He and Pete Rios were both on the grounds, but there was no sign of Babu. Still haven't managed to make the acquaintance of the World's Most Interesting Man. Perhaps during the playoffs.
Somebody made a statement to me that Hung Nguyen is the second best (behind Kudrick) singles player in 4.5 this year. Interesting. Word on the street is that he is playing at a much higher level than last year. It's too bad his team wasn't able to put it together enough to get into the postseason. It would have been interesting to see how he would have fared. Wish he had played Taylor instead of Medford in the last matchup.

hung is good, but second best behind kudrick? not really, he has't played anyone significant and it's not like he's smoking everyone else. it's probably some chancellors crony hyping up their own players again. remember all that hype with james bui, well where is james now. chancellors should just shut up and go away. you over hyped your team and your season is over.
ReplyDeleteRIOS SUCK!!!
Roddick lost 2 tie-breaks... serving speed ain't everything.
ReplyDeleteWho sucks more? Roddick or Rios?
ReplyDeleteMy intel on Hung is that he plays much, much better indoors. In the heat, he's not so good. In any case, it's all irrelevant for this year.
ReplyDeleteWhen will the 4.0 playoff details be released?
ReplyDeleteI'm too lazy to look it up. Does anyone know the date by which players on multiple teams must "declare" for a team?
ReplyDeleteIf you are talking about Freddy and his cheating HTA cronies, whenever they want. For the rest of yall, the rule seems to be:
ReplyDeletePlayers must declare by June 30 which team they will represent
Another interesting 3 setter for Rios I see
ReplyDeleteBabu was at LLTC last night. He was scouting the competition while wearing a shirt that said, "Stay thirsy my friend". He watched the Rios/Halani 3 setter.
ReplyDeletehow matches do you have to play to qualify for city playoffs?
ReplyDeleteYou have to have 2 matches to qualify for playoffs. One of the matches can be a default. You have to have PLAYED in 3 matches to qualify for Nationals.
ReplyDelete3 matches in the reg season or does city & sectionals count?
ReplyDeletecity and sectionals count. You have to had played in 3 matches btw local and sects to quali for Nats. For local and sects playoffs you can get by with 1 default and 1 played match
ReplyDelete9:38/11:25 You might want to mix up your lingo....crony? really? no one says that
ReplyDeleterios playing line3 doubles and winning by a 3rd set tie-breaker? that tells me that you SUCK!
ReplyDeleteBabu over Vu at the Met 7-6, 7-5 this morning. Danny runs like a deer. Babu to play Troy Gor at Rice this evening at 8pm if anyone wants to watch.
ReplyDeletewhat does it say about a benchmark 4.0 winning in 4.5 singles...
ReplyDeleteBabu played like a Zen master vs Vu this morning. Babu approached the court
ReplyDeletesporting a sleeveless outfit and a tattoo. He has worked HARD on and off
the court and has gone from a Plus Size Gigolo to a Lean Mean Tennis Machine
thanks to a Nip and Tuck from Dr. Franklin Rose with the Texas Institute of
Cosmetic Surgery. Sources say that he is happy with his body and his fresh
new line of tennis attire. First let me say that Babu has been a fan of
fashion since the early 80's. He has loved shopping for clothing since has
was a small child. It would be no great surprise if everyone including the Sandwich Blaster and Pete Rios began
collecting and wearing clothes similar to Babu. Babu tells me for the playoffs
he may wear a magenta chiffon top and a multi colored brocade skirt, both
from Dolce & Gabbana. He also stated that he may choose beige shorts with
front diagonal ruching and side leather tassels, depending on the weather.
Last winter, when it was cold out, he was seen with a pink cashmere vest
with matching leg and arm warmers. We will all have to wait until playoffs to see what Babu chooses.
Babu sounds like a flaming homosexual. If I drop my keys I will just walk home.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a good idea of which divisions will likely end up getting the 3 wildcards in 4.5 based on actual data (numbers guy??) or will it all come down to next weeks results? What are the possible scenarios?
ReplyDeleteNo, I think 2:33 may be the flamer
ReplyDeleteI have 4.0 figured and will post in an hour or two. 4.5 probably not today.
ReplyDeleteYes, the wildcards in 4.5 will almost certainly be Division 2,4,5.
ReplyDeleteLOL. No sane captain is going to be the first to post the score of their last match. I can see the following thought process:
ReplyDelete"LOL. Team Dumbass just posted a final games won percentage of 59.7%. If I add two games to one of the scores of our last match, we can screw them out of the last wildcard. Cool, let's see if anyone notices!"
default the matches for the teams that don't report their match scores pronto. if you have a shitty team...stay home. No need to drag your team to the playoffs if you don't belong and get a spanking.
ReplyDeleteLike HTA is gonna do that. The 4.0 scores are all in. In 4.5, no one has all of their scores in.
ReplyDeleteI get this picture of a captain with his scores entered but not submitted on one page, while refreshing the browser on another waiting to see what has been inputted so far only to try and tweak the scores to screw over some folks.
ReplyDeleteFrom all of the discussion, could someone confirm how the wildcards will be chosen?
ReplyDeleteIs it just percentage games won? Or does it consider this?
Team wins
Individual wins
Sets lost
Games lost
i think your team has to be,
ReplyDeletesecond place in your div
individual wins
We should just go with games won percentage for everything. Match score 2-6, 7-6, 1-0 == 10 games to 12 games LOSS!
ReplyDeleteI mean that the way the pros do it, right???
So if 4.0 ranking is based on games lost...
ReplyDelete1. Lakeside CC (237)
2. Wranglers (282)
3. Unicorns (286)
4. Shock & Awe (291)
5. Good Guys (318)
6. RPM (318)
7. Slice & Dice (342)
8. Hurricanes (417)
They should just boot the 4.0 Hurricanes from the playoffs for having such a crappy percentage of games won. It's clear that they are terrible. I mean, they let Rios on their team!
ReplyDeleteSo, is 4.0 Chancellors gonna make the playoffs or are they gonna get screwed by the game won% thing?
ReplyDeleteLooking at the 4.5 scores reported from last night, it's clear that the playoff contenders are getting serious about demolishing the weaklings. (Scores are in total games.)
ReplyDeleteBlacksheep - Slammers 59-21
Coaches - JCC Dudes 61-25
Copperfield - Ball Buster 55-25
Lakeside - Lakeside Estate 61- 18 (ouch)
Sugarcreek - Sweetwater 60-10 (rumored)
By the way, Hess demolished Orozco 6-0,6-2 so I've got a feeling that Hess has awoken from his winter slumber and is getting ready for the playoffs.
Another reason to hate win percentage as a tie-breaker. Let's reward the stacked teams for generating as non-competitive results as possible. I mean, that what's USTA league is all about!
ReplyDeleteHTA posted the 4.0 draws on the website. Unicorns, Lakeside, and Hurricaines are in the same draw.
ReplyDeletewoooow.... how convenient for Freddy and his RPM...
ReplyDeleteWhere is it posted?
ReplyDeleteYou're full of it. It's not out there.
ReplyDeletelol maybe its wishful thinking on Freddy's part
ReplyDeleteFreddy is putting together a league committee meeting. He wants the committee to decide the wild cards directly...just like the Grand Slam committees decide the wild cards for their tournaments. That is the only way we have a chance to get into the playoffs. Makes sense to me!
ReplyDeleteHA! the unicorns lost to the aces and spinners!! take that you bunch of pansies!!
