Week Two

I've scanned the rosters and haven't seen many interesting additions since last Thursday. The rumor mill is awash with some big names and/or promising juniors being added in the coming weeks. Am I the only one who doesn't like the 18 year old rule? I wonder if there's any chance it gets abolished. Doubt it...more potential players equals more league fees I guess. Maybe I'm cynical in my old age.

Haven't really looked at the schedule too closely. The only match I'm aware of, honestly, is the one between Chancellor's and Lakeside in 4.5. The singles match-ups could be intriguing in that one, as I assume Lakeside will use Q. Bui and Rios, perhaps against two of Hung/Dat/Huy? In any event, I think both singles lines could go either way. Other than Connell and Wright, nothing really wows me about Lakeside's doubles. This one should be closely contested.

4.0 is interesting in many ways this year, due to the number of divisions. With 7, I am assuming that perhaps there will be just 3 wild card teams. Now, I haven't looked at the divisions closely, but in my mind clearly LLTC-Mob Squad and Westside Warriors are two of the top teams in the city. However, if there are some divisions with a couple of horrible teams, some less deserving second place team may swoop in and steal a wild card from one of those teams. LLTC still has a chance for revenge, but the 4-1 loss makes sweeping some of the also-rans highly desirable.

  2. It's not Chancellors asshole, it's MOB SQUAD. You bitches will learn to respect us.

  3. It's Chancellors mob squad, not the real mob squad. Lakeside will be too good this week and Chancellors will not make the playoffs as usual. Season will be over early this year.

  4. the real mob squad was a legend. you guys are imitators and are 0-1. your season will could end tomorrow

  5. Mob Squad who are they?

  6. Greg, you should ask Chancellors to give up the Mob Squad name. It's just SAD that they can't build their own reputation, but need to borrow from past success. They are ruining your old team's name and reputation that you worked so hard to build and own.

  7. That's a good idea. I think I will start a new team and name it Hurrycanes, do you think anyone will fear me?

  8. Actually it wasn't "my" team, it was all of ours, and Tuan was as big a part of it as anyone, probably bigger. We always did things (like lineup decisions) by vote, so even when I was listed as captain it wasn't like I was running things.

Plus, this year's 4.5 team at the very least has numerous players who were on the original Mob Squad.

  9. Deucebags or Schwings?

  10. Deucebags added 2 players - Javier Chavarria, junior and Brent Wassell (4.0 self). Javier Jr. like his dad is a player. But is he really eligible? Also, adding a 4.0 self rate to a 4.5 playoff bound team is suspicious. I say they both end up getting protested and DQ'd. Kerig is already on it.

    1. Naw, both clean. Javier was a Superchamp in 2010, but correctly self-rated 4.5. Brent was 3.5 in 2005 so no threat.

  11. >>>> Deucebags or Schwings?

It's like asking Pittsburgh Pirates or Kansas City Royals. Two irrelevant franchises now.

  12. Is Tuan the same guy that was suspended by USTA for hitting someone on the head with his racket?

  13. How can you mistaken Tuan an Alain. Tuan's the same height, but twice as heavy.

    1. Maybe Tuan and Alain are triplets, and Tuan ate the 3rd one.

  17. Chancellors signed up a Evert, Gerald J. Jerry Evert, uncle of Chris Evert used to coach Baylor tennis and is in the Arkansas Tennis hall of fame. Let's see if this self rate makes it without being protested.

    1. Rice letterman 1978-80, probably makes him about 53, can self-rate 4.5 unless he played on the satellite tour or better, which I don't find evidence of.

    2. Yeap let him play and see if you can DQ him later.

  18. That's why it's called a surprise...

  19. If I was the other captain, I would let Evert play, then protest afterward. Then it's a guaranteed win.

  20. It was Alain that hit Scott Hollis in the head with racquet. It was Tuan that was a member of the mob squad.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Was the Scott Hollis incident an accident?

    ReplyDelete
  22. He hit Steve Almrud, not Scott Hollis.

  23. Deucebags will dominate league. We haven't showed what we are made of yet.

  24. Andre Costilla signed with Suger Creek.

  25. Another surprise... Juan Trevino with (wait and see)

  26. Juan will prob play with the Ducebags, but he's not considered a ringer compared to alot of the players.

  27. Jorge B. is already committed to the Deucebags. I bet he signs up tonight or right before the next Copperfield match.
