For those headed to Dallas

For those headed to Dallas for sectionals at any level I wish you well in playing that 4p match.

This was taken on 75 near Spring Creek after being in the car for 20mins.

Fluid up and hope you have 18 capable players on your roster.

Best of luck to all!

  2. I think someone already posted this but I think the 4.5 teams (Jason's and Betsie's) are the only teams that have a legitimate shot this year of doing anything.

  3. The 4.0 guys could make it to Sunday. What will hold back Freeman's team if they actually fall into the trip of thinking Rios is good and can pull out an important line.

  4. Vu and Rios will be a dominating 1-2 punch in singles for the 4.0 team. They have a good chance of getting to Sunday.

  5. How is the 5.0 team going to do? Is the FroHawking going to be undefeated in Dallas? He will have stiff competition. I think in support of Aadrian everyone on his team needs to wear a FroHawk…. Go team FroHawk!

  6. The Houston 4.0 team is probably one of the best 4.0 teams ever compare to the weak competition. There is no doubt the Hurricanes 4.0 team will win state.

  7. Everything depends on how well the sun is tolerated. 'Hope we can all last through the matches on Friday and Saturday.

  8. The sun is only factor if the playing level is even. The playing level is not even. The Hurricanes have players playing out of their levels.

  9. The sun is a equalizer and can easily propel a weaker player past a stronger player. Also, we are talking about sectionals, every team will have out of level players.

  10. 6:40 Obviously has never made it Sectionals. These are the best team from their respective cities and will have "out of level" players. The competition will be tough and the sun/heat ia an equalizer. Best of luck to all Houston teams in Dallas this weekend.

  12. Houstons 4.0 teams don't stand a chance against either of the Dallas teams. I've seen some of these guys you all waste your time talking about play at the tri-level and there is no way they win.

  13. Who has a better chance of getting out of their flight, Chancellors or Hurricanes at 4.0?

    ReplyDelete
  14. They both have great shots at getting out of their respective pools. I wouldn't be surprised to see Dallas v. Houston in both semis in 4.0.

  15. Hurricanes will win it all. Chancellors will be lucky to win a match.

  16. My advice to any Houston team going to Dallas is to RUN THEIR ASS off in that heat!!! Hit drop shots, hit deep lobs, anything but just keep them running. The last man or woman standing will win. It may come down to fitness, not tennis playing ability.
    RUN THEIR ASS!!!

  17. Any results to post about the Houston teams?

  18. I just heard all matches after 2pm are being moved to 7pm

  19. Looks like Houston is doing well in Dallas this weekend. In 3.5 men, Houston and Houston Wild are both 2-0 and both play 2-0 opponents tomorrow. Unfortunately, one of the teams has to play Bob Bender's Dallas squad tomorrow but the other team may have a shot at the semis.

    Good luck Houston!!!!!

  21. No Houston teams make it to Sunday. I predict except for the 4.5 Men no teams make it next weekend either and that's only because they have an unbelievably easy flight.

  22. I think both 4.0 Men's teams could be playing on Sunday.

  23. CORPUS CHRISTI IS GOING TO WIN 4.5 SECTIONALS. THEY HAVE TWO DIVISION 1 GUYS ON THEIR TEAM TO PLAY SINGLES. COY DOBSON FROM SMU WHO PLAYS FUTURES TOURNEYS ON PRO TOUR AND ERHART ASAAD FROM TEXAS A&M CORPUS CHRISTI. HE BEAT 5.5 RATED DANIEL OMANA. WHAT A JOKE! HOW ARE THESE GUYS PLAYING 4.5 AND WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO?! WILL THEY BE DQ'ED?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Both these guys are easy DQs. They are self rates.

  25. Houston 3.5 should have made it to Sunday. San Angelo switched their line 1 and 2 singles and Houston 2 singles lost 3rd set tiebreak after winning 1st set. Houston 4.0 may have a shot next weekend to make it to Sunday but it will be close.

  26. Dallas 2
    Houston 0
Better luck next weekend, but I doubt it.

  27. 12:33: They are playing 4.5 for the same reason as any other sandbagger - to win against lesser-skilled players in an effort to go to nationals.

2:28: The DQs look easy on paper, but the papers were filed two weeks ago with no DQ yet, and the tournament only a few days away. Asaad played two D-1 tournaments as a student at Texas A&M-CC, winning three matches, including one over 5.5 national champion Daniel Omana. Dobson dropped out of school this past year (his senior year) to train for tennis so he could play D-1 this fall. He has given a verbal commitment to SMU, a D-1 school. Also, he played one futures tournament, losing in the first round to world #1747 Spencer Feldman.

I don't see Corpus winning the tournament even with those guys in the lineup, as they barely won the Corpus league with them. Their doubles are just too weak, and there are other really good singles guys besides.

  28. Corpus Christi all the way. I guess that flight wasn't so easy after all. Houston maybe out of it on Friday. Dobson and Asaad are going to dominate for sure.
