Notes

My observations from last night:

Biggest match of the night was the 5.0 match between Lakeside and the Met, won by Lakeside. Aadrian Hasker has continued to step up his game over the last few years and has now straight setted Robert Bickmore and Arun Nanjappa in the season's first two weeks. Equally interesting is the fact that if Lakeside wins the 5.0 division, it very well could affect the 4.5 division, as Greg Jones is a member of both the Lakeside 5.0 and Hurricane 4.5 teams.

Of minor interest, GTAC's 4.0 team beat Lance Loken's Copperfield squad 3-2. Will Sumit Arora avoid the dreaded three strikes this season? Probably...but it definitely will bear watching.

Also, my friend and former teammate Tuan Tran signed up for the Chancellor's 4.0 team. He's a talented player and if he can bring his Mob Squad intensity to the 4.0 level, the Chancellor's team will be better for it. They have assembled a dangerous roster.

I think 4.0 is shaping up with 4 (or 5) teams a level above the rest: Chancellor's, Hurricanes, Lakeside, Unicorns and (perhaps) the Good Guys. The Unicorns have a fun group of guys and appear ready to waltz into the playoffs, perhaps without really being tested.

  1. Canes are going down in 4.0 and 4.5. The end of a legacy is upon us.

  2. every year aadrian has improved. that's a huge win over nanjappa, who's always will be considered a top 5.0 player, even with the lost.

  3. Adrian has a smooth game. That kid is a bad ass.

  4. Does anyone know the results from last night?

  5. Way to go AAdrian...continue to kickbutt!

  6. Unicorns are the best in their division and will be in the playoffs. We easily won at Sienna's home courts, 4-1, after driving forever to get there. If two teams per division go to playoffs, Ace-N-Spinners will be the second. Nuff said.

  7. Looks like Lakeside has no line 2 doubles though

  8. Why would Greg Jones play 5.0 when he can beat up on hacks and old men that are 1 full rating lower than what he truly is. Really Lame

  9. I heard Tuan lost to scrubs last night. I wonder if he was just managing his results.

    ReplyDelete
  10. He will not be a factor. Doesn't look to be committed.

    ReplyDelete
  11. He was a pretty big part of the MS when they were at the top of 4.5 tennis in Houston

    ReplyDelete
  12. hey guys don't forget Sugar Creek Dawgs, let's not count them out

    ReplyDelete
  13. Whatever happened to Alex Chang? He supposedly had one of the biggest serves and forehands back in the days.
Is Tuan the same guy from TKO Boxing promotions? He had a good fighter come to the Met once.

  14. i noticed the hurricanes have a strong team too, they are more on the side of 4.5-5.0

  15. Thois is a tennis blog, not boxing

  16. yes the 'canes does have an extremely strong team. they were having a hard time keeping the scores close esp with the young UH club players

  17. Alex Chang loves dim sum

    ReplyDelete
  18. yes he is from TKO promotions.

  19. what is thois? sounds asian

    ReplyDelete
  20. Could Alex Chang make the Chancellors 4.5 starting line up?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thois, Alex Chang is BAAAAAAAAAAAACK

    ReplyDelete
  22. Chang is probably rusty, at least from competitive standpoint. I heard he gined quite a bit of weight too. And he was not that quick to begin with.

    ReplyDelete
  23. hello!!! 10pounds for an asian is not overweight, just lack of exercise and he sure has a mean game.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Chang is similar to the Rios discussion earlier. Style over substance. All flash and dash.

    ReplyDelete
  25. What's Chang back from... a buffet?

    ReplyDelete
  26. He does have a mean game at the buffet table.

  27. this week's match to watch. battle of the 4.5 doubles juggernauts between last year's top two undefeated teams wright/connell vs norkus/weaver. should be a very intertaining match for all you doubles fan.

  28. The buffet kicked him out, he ate them out of food.

  29. was Alex Chang the kid when back in HS he was driving around in an Acura NSX at age 16?? same guy?

    ReplyDelete
  30. does anyone know the scores last week between the aces and aces and spinners, i heard the aces recruited 2 good players

    ReplyDelete
  31. dunno but aren't they suppose to report the score w/in 48hrs? lol 2 more 18yo supers?

    ReplyDelete
  32. How do you see the 4.5 matchup this week with Duecebags vs. Copperfield this thursday?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Copperfield 4-1 or 5-0. They will win all their singles matches and probably all their doubles.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The bags 4-1 or 5-0. They will win all their doubles matches and probably all their singles.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Deucebags either 3-2 or 4-1. Kudrick is not committed to league and unlikely to play anything unless it is at Copperfield. Adam Kent pulled his groin at the Spalding event so he is out.

That leaves Michael Salinas and David McMullan to cover singles. Donnie Bishop and Greg Schmucker will at worst split those single maybe take both singles. Donnie is a win in singles vs anyone on Copperfield that is not Kudrick.

Alain Tran is better than any doubles player that Copperfield can put out there. The Dugas and Morales brothers not to mention Goldberg are still lurking to steal a doubles line.

Mark it - Deucebags by 3-2 or 4-1.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Tran is a mix player, means too weak to play in a 4.5 mens league, sorry Tran. you have to admit you like mix doubles so you can have other weak players on the court besides you.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I agree. Copperfield over Deucebags 5-0 or 4-1.

    ReplyDelete
  38. No chance copperfield will take deucebags this week.
At best copperfield splits the singles.
Deuecebags double pretty solid all the way down line.
    Deucebags 4-1 or 3-2

    ReplyDelete
  39. Which Tran were you referring to? Nvm they all suck!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. The chancellors 4.0 team seems real excited to have chang and tran on the team. I saw tran lose last week and then proceeded to crack his racquet so I'm sure he wasn't tanking. He seems arrogant and out of shape. The team is better off without him

    ReplyDelete
  41. You don't manage your score or tank with split sets. That's usually done with a straight set score. He lost because he's not that good at 4.0

    ReplyDelete
  42. Are there not any interesting match ups this week beside Deucebags & Copperfield?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Read the articles dumb fuck or check tennis link.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The Unicorns will dominate the playoffs. We are the best. Hurricaines or Chancellors beware, there is a new sheriff in town. Prepare to be blown away (Pun intended).

    ReplyDelete
  45. wtf is the unicorn team? that a cheerleading squad?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Damn, them Cheer leaders are dishing out 5-0 wins lol.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anyways anonymous people are just posting up shit. I am from the Unicorns we arent a bunch of braggers, someone else must be doing our smack talk.
