  3. All the participants this weekend won a local event from last year. You can get a team together and play in the December local event. If you win, then you are eligible for the National Qualifier. The USTA now owns 25% of the WTT so I envision the WTT to really expand. Go to www.wtt.com to see further information.

  4. Are there teams from outside of Houston participating in the event this weekend? Where does the winner of this event get to go if they qualify?

  5. Local winners from events all over the USA are eligible to participate in the National Qualifier. There was a team from Oklahoma and a team from Indiana that were supposed to participate, but bailed at the last minute. So there will be only Houston winners in this event. The winners from this weekend travel to the National Championships in Indian Wells, CA. The next local qualifier is December 4th/5th. Get a team together!

  6. Wow is no one doing Combo? Could be an indicator of all the bumps. I noticed there are only 2 8.5 woman teams

  7. IMHO - the fun of combo has been killed by all-star teams and cost.

Due to limited interest and cost I don't see combo as a good deal plus when you play an all-star team that you know you don't have a chance of winning overall the $26 looks like a waste of time. Just go play a pick up event...

  8. But given that there are only 3 lines seems someone should be able to put together an alternate "all star" team. Come on guys. We can't come up with 6+ good 4.5's and 6+ good 4.0s that the event would be competitive.

  9. It is the same weekend as the major zone in San Antonio. So many of the stronger players skip combo.

  10. Houston we have a problem. YAY HTA - good scheduling. And No, this wasn't scheduled months ago because I asked the HTA the week after Sectionals when it would be and they told me they had not identified a date yet. Take all that time to pick a weekend and then choose the same weekend as a zone tourney.

But on another note, how bout Fed's shot last night. That guy is a freak of nature.

  11. In looking at the Federer shot, there are some players who clearly should never try that shot. Namely, Jochen Moser.
