Yeah, I've been doing this league thing for a long time. And I've even had this blog for a while, but somehow I'm still confused about how some things work. Perhaps a wise reader can un-muddy the waters for me once and for all.
Will someone explain to me the DQ rules for city playoffs? I remember in 2009 Daniel Dolsberry was DQ'd during city playoffs and yet his win didn't even get reversed. I don't remember the reason why, but with city playoffs approaching and with so many key players seemingly in jeopardy, I'm very curious as to what the process is. Will a player DQ'ed in his second match have his previous win reverted to a loss? I am guessing Numbers Guy or some veteran, savvy captain may know the answer to some of these questions? If so, I'd love to be illuminated.
The 4.0 schedule has teams playing on Thursday, July 5th, Thursday the 12th, and then on Saturday and Sunday. In 4.5, they will play on Thursday the 12th and then on Saturday and Sunday. The whole DQ strategy fascinates me, as some 4.0 teams may choose to try to win the first round or two without playing vulnerable players, rolling the dice. One would assume that should a player make to the final weekend, he will be "safe" as the results will probably not be run until Monday. Will results from Thursday (night) the 12th be run in time for players to be DQ'd by Saturday? I would assume so, but who knows?

I know it used to be a Self-Rate DQ would have all of their matches reversed and a Computer DQ would only reverse the last match played which caused the DQ. I'm not sure what it is now since computer-rated players can't get DQd.
ReplyDeletethe season has not ended, so i think if the player gets dq'd and all his wins get reverse, and the wins/loses get recalulated. but i dont think anything can be reversed once playoffs has started. that player just cant play
ReplyDeleteAccording to the national and Texas league rules for 2012, any self-rated player dynamically DQ'd prior to sectionals will have all matches taken away and awarded to the opposing team as 6-0, 6-0 wins.
ReplyDelete2012 USTA League Regulations:
2.04 NTRP DYNAMIC DISQUALIFICATION AND REVIEW PROCEDURES
2.04E Scoring Procedures.
2.04E(1) Local. In the event of an NTRP Dynamic Disqualification from a particular level of play, the Section shall determine and publish in its regulations what matches, if any, shall be considered losses. The disqualified matches shall be considered 6-0, 6-0 wins for the opposing player or doubles team.
2012 USTA League Regulations Glossary:
Championship Level: Any USTA League competition held after local league competition or playoffs.
2012 Operating Procedures for Texas:
8. In the event of a disqualification locally from a particular level of play the section has determined that self rated players have all matches taken away, while computer-rated players with a T, M or A only have their last match taken away. However, at the Sectional level, the Section chooses to calculate dynamic ratings and disqualify those players that meet the criteria for NTRP disqualification following the conclusion of the championship, all points earned by disqualified players at the championship will stand.
Look asshole, this is an opinion forum, not fact-based forum. Take your "rules" somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteKen is that you. You worried about Sydney?
ReplyDeleteSydney is computer rated. Unless something has changed a computer rated player cant be disqualified.
DeleteAny player can be disqualified if the evidence is strong enough but computer rated players can NOT be dynamically disqualified (3 strikes based on match results).
DeleteIf your team makes it through local competition then I think all the players are protected in the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter what you "think"
Deletesomeone's a little angry ^ lol
DeleteMob Squad is gettin screwed or should we say JAMMED
ReplyDeleteThe only reason why Mob Squad didnt make the playoffs is because they choked it away.
DeleteWhat a bunch of Mob Squad bitches! You didn't make the playoffs so shut the fuck up.
DeleteThose rules don't explain Dolsberry in 2009.
ReplyDeleteHow competitive is the "LeagueTennis.com" league? I just noticed that recent self-rate Shishir Mohan from the 4.0 Unicorns team won the 5.0 division in 2010. Might not mean anything (at the Met, the "4.5" singles division is often somewhere around the 3.5-4.0 level), but I think that team will be sneaky-good.
ReplyDeleteHow'd the Lakeside 4.5 match with Winning 2.3 turn out last night? Anyone know?
ReplyDeleteInteresting, Shishir Mohan self-rated on June 19th and was put into a match receiving a default that was played on June 14th (the only lines reported were played on June 14th).
ReplyDeleteplayed dates and scheduled dates are different.
ReplyDeletewho do you predict will advance to sectionals in 4.0 and 4.5 htown?
ReplyDeleteI will wait to see the pools, etc. before I make my predictions. My feelings change like the wind...
Deleteit's official, div3 is in the books. quack gave jordan a tennis lesson. mobsquad will need another year of recruiting and find new tactics of trash talking. see ya next year.
ReplyDeleteIf they would have just done what their great leader Tuan had said they would be in the playoffs - but they didn't.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha.... :))
DeleteMob Squad 4.0 is in the playoffs. Tuan had to make a decision and he made the right one.
Deleteremember last season, when all the asians jumped shipped from dbags and played for mob squad? well that's two years in a row that dbags made playoffs and mob squad didn't. alain must be loving it.
ReplyDeleteThey are still having more fun then playing with Alain.
ReplyDeleteSounds like there is still some bitter Douchebags about the split based on some comments too.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Borkop left the Deucebags too. So after a season of making the playoff, Borkop, Bui and Hung all left because of poor captaining skills. Deucebags will be in the playoffs this year as a 3 loss qualifier. They will out of the playoffs with 3 losses too.
ReplyDeleteSchwinggg
ReplyDeleteWhat if Schwing beats Lost Fires handily as expected, are Duecebags for sure in playoffs in 4.5?
Yes because Duecebags have 25 lines won. If Schwing beat Lost Forest 5-0, they would end up with 24 lines won.
DeleteWhat about the 48 hour rule for reporting? Hurricanes have had no communication w Allison on the Jedi Knights match. Is the match played? No real bearing on results it would appear.
ReplyDeleteWith next week's first rounds of playoff looming, I imagine there will be some scoring posted quickly this week to wrap it up.
Hurricanes will write in scores to qualify players just as Freeman always does.
ReplyDeleteYes, the scores were 6-1, 6-1 for all lines.
DeleteThe score for jcc and hurricanes were put in. Wong scores were put in. Mussendem and Berry split sets. One set matches probably don't go into the computer program. Freeman would know that. He is getting out of control. Berry is on his 4.0 team.
DeleteMussenden n Berry only played 1 set before they stopped. Score was entered correctly.
Deletehow funny will it be if both div winners, hurricanes and jam are put on the same playoff div.
ReplyDelete4.5
Deleteblack sheep lobsters
hurricanes jam
lakeside blast
deucebags hrc
Blacksheep vs Copperfield in 4.5 final !!!!
ReplyDeleteblacksheep and copperfield were both in a non-competitive div. blacksheep only has davila and sanborn for singles and the rest are good doubles. this wont be good enough to compete against a team like jam. sydney's a tall guy and will not have a problem with davila's moon balls. jam's weakest doubles will beat any of blacksheep's and copperfield's doubles. copperfield will lose both singles to jam's sydney and baer. i wont be surprised if jam sweeping both teams. just look at their lineup against lakeside, which is probably their best line up.
ReplyDeletesimon/day
marco/hornsby
lotz/coyle
also burrmann and sweetnam
try winning any doubles against these guys.
Not to mention on the bench Douds, Lido, Christian, hemstra
DeleteAndreas ballesteros on jams sidelines also
DeleteCostilla also
DeleteBlacksheep has a good team, but this year Jam is loaded. I don't think Jam will sweep singles, but doubles they are very good. I say Jam will beat Blacksheep and Copperfield 4-1.
ReplyDeleteAny idea why there is no communication from the HTA about who made the playoffs? 5 days before they expect you to play in 4.0 on the day after a holiday. Guys might want to make some plans to avoid divorce. What are they waiting for?
ReplyDeleteWarriors were rained out Thursday, but have been given credit for the win by team default, so playoffs are set. Suspect pairings will come out Monday.
DeleteLol @ the divorce comment. Classic.
DeleteDeucebags are going to get destroyed in playoffs
ReplyDeleteF!ck you haters. The Deucebags will be ready and we have our team committed. You will see what we are made of.
DeleteOnly blog alan, don't start a fight you will get spanked one day
Deletebeing ready and committed won't will maybe help you get a game or two.
DeleteHow is it that the Deucebags lose 3 matches in regular season, then we find out Copperfield has two single players DQed in the play-offs.(FYI), JCC would have lost the Copperfield match if the two starters for Copperfield were not DQed....This is too much. Have fun in the 104 degree heat in Dallas, City winners.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is great that you are working with your readers with the information that you don't know. Also I don't know much about the topic but I can find out more about thanks to this post.
