The Good-er Guys took the Hurricanes by surprise in their first matchup. On paper they were the weaker team, but Cooper, Jannuzzi and Hirvela/Brice came up big. The rosters of both teams have improved since. Jay Schroff, Robert Baker and Mark Bowman(?) are significant additions. The team of Hirvela/Brice are still one of the top duos in the league.
The Canes did not have Robert Plummer or Soong Hay Tam on the roster in the first meeting. Will Tam make his debut this week? He's a huge asset to any team with a glittering history at Sectionals and Nationals. I'm hoping Hersch Pise and Ryan Cooper match up again. I'll give Pise the slight edge despite the earlier result. I'm calling for a 4-1 Hurricane victory.
Not much to note in 4.0. Earlier in the week, GTAC's Iouri Pochoumenski got DQ'd, becoming the third 4.0 player to get whacked. Will there be more? Will there be any late season surprise additions to rosters? For some teams, keeping people eligible and getting them qualified are the main goals until Citywides.

Plummer/Mussendam lost to Brice/Hirvela in the first meeting 6 and 5.... Canes are over rated this year and will lose again to the Gooder Guys.
ReplyDeleteFoster/Mussenden vs Brice/Hirvela would be a match to see. Canes 3-2 tonight
ReplyDeleteEveryone always predicts the Hurricanes have fallen, but they always pull it out. Hurricanes have an outstanding roster. I would put them as the #1 team ahead of Westside. Hersch will win the 2nd time around. Mussendam just came from junior major zone and beat 2 of the Copperfield juniors (who are very overrated). Soong with anyone won't be beat. That is 3 lines right there and we still haven't even gotten to Plummer.
ReplyDeleteHurricanes have 1 loss because Zachary failed to close the show. What are the chances that Zachary is going to be on the deciding line again, 0%.
I agree with you on Hurricanes ahead of Westside, if you mean Westside No Way Out!!!
DeleteWhy is it because Zachary failed??? Did he lose 3 lines in that match? Did he get raped at line 1 singles?
ReplyDeletezachary lost, but didnt fail. i would say cooper and psycho ward, were able to pull through
ReplyDeleteZachery serving 9-7 in the 3rd set TB and couldnt close the match. All the other matches were done so everyone knew it would come down to his court. Credit Ward for playing hard and getting the win for himself and the team.
ReplyDeleteMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how someone can get DQd with 2 losses. Iouri Pochoumenski
ReplyDeleteWins/losses have nothing to do with it.
ReplyDeleteWin/Losses don't have much to do with it but have you looked at the results?
ReplyDelete1002908357 4/26/2012 IOURI M POCHOUMENSKI Christiaan B. Stevens 6-0, 6-2
1002908361 5/3/2012 IOURI M POCHOUMENSKI Alastair Le 6-4, 6-3
1002908364 5/10/2012 Mark R. Etienne IOURI M POCHOUMENSKI 6-3, 6-1
1002908372 5/31/2012 IOURI M POCHOUMENSKI ANDRES NEUMAN 6-3, 6-1
1002908376 6/7/2012 CUONG PHUOC TRUONG IOURI M POCHOUMENSKI 5-7, 7-6
Other than the 6-0, 6-2, where is the other flag? 6-3, 6-1 seems like a borderline flag but where is the 3rd one?
Does anyone here know the date for the city wide league playoffs?
ReplyDeleteAnyone who knows how things work is not surprised that Pochoumenski got nabbed. I expected he had at least two strikes.
ReplyDeleteIOURI even retired from the last match against Cuong, so he won't get DQ'ed. Now he's DQ'ed anyways? WTF?? Are there computers running on viruses??
ReplyDeleteOh well, IOURI's DQ will definitely benefit Mob Squad, since that additional line moved them legally to spot #1 now.
*their computers
ReplyDeleteI posted his record for the year up above. Show me which matches are flags? The only thing I can think of as well is that beating alistair le pushed his rating up pretty high because Alistair is a 4.5 bumpdown. I don't see a 3rd strike but perhaps it was a DQ by his dynamic rating going to high but if that's the case those losses should have lowered his DNTRP. I just don't see the 3rd strike.
ReplyDeleteDo you know how dynamic ratings are calculated? I'm not going to give away all the secrets. Do some research if you really want to know.
DeleteMaybe tennislink is run by the TSA and the multi-syllabic name flagged him as a terrorist?
ReplyDeleteJune 14th and still no word about the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteFreeman isn't exactly known for his smart lineups. The last match against the gooder guys is a pretty good example. Zachary is probably the best doubles player on the team and you put him in the singles. Makes no sense. Zachary will be in the doubles tonight and Mussenden back to singles.
ReplyDeleteHere's my theory on why HTA hasn't posted the playoff brackets. In the past when they did it in advance the teams/captains played games with the standings, etc. Now, they are waiting. So, because you all are a bunch of cheaters, this is what happens.
ReplyDeleteAll the captains want to know is the number of teams. That is it.
ReplyDeleteMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE is out of town performing at a Bar Mitzvah.
ReplyDeleteZachary is one of their best doubles player??? It's like saying put Ward in singles at Sectionals.... Ooooppppssss. Didn't Freeman do both of those. He's on crack!
ReplyDeleteZachary is a legend in his own mind. The results speak for themselves.
ReplyDeleteim worried about the gooder guys' secret players.
ReplyDeleteFinally Allison releases the information! 4.5 - top 2 teams from each flight. Any other captains want to chime in on the 4.0 numbers?
ReplyDeleteWhy the hell is 4.5 playing on July 5?
ReplyDeleteOk here is the deal...I havent played particularly well this season...for those who have backed me, thank you! For those who want to talk trash its your right, I talk plenty myself!!! Any one who wants some, come get some 713 875 3596...especially 3:00pm

if gooder guys win 3-2 tonight and sweep the rest of two matches, they will be 8-2 with 36 individual wins
ReplyDeleteif canes lose tonight 2-3, and beat blast 3-2, and sweep the rest of the other matches, the will be 8-2, they will have 36 individual wins
if blast lose to canes, and sweeps the other two teams, the will be 8-2, with 39 individual wins.
but there are other possibilities. it will be very interesting if gooder guys pull off a win
4.0.... 7 flight winners and 3 wildcards
ReplyDeleteWhere do you find this information out at?
ReplyDeletetennislink...
ReplyDeleteis just me or are we having more DQ's due to the 3 strike rule this year?
ReplyDeleteHere is the summary for the 4.5 playoffs.

5:45... Finally, a Red sighting!
ReplyDeleteHe was at Sugar Creek last week.
ReplyDeleteCanes won
ReplyDeleteA lot of good matches at Lee Leclear tonight.
ReplyDeletepoorly divided divisions. hurricanes and lakeside were the two best houston team last year and should have been rewarded an easier div. now you have two teams like gooder guys and mob-squad who are playoff teams getting eliminated, while teams like d-bags and gypsies, who are not as good as them getting through.
ReplyDeleteGooder Guys definitely need to be in the playoffs!!
ReplyDeleteIf u cant make second then u dont deserve to make the playoffs. We dont want sorry teams!
ReplyDeleteI agree
DeleteCanes won bc they sat Zachary plain and simple. If he didn't choke to that idiot Ward, we wouldn't even
ReplyDeletebe talking about the Gooder Guys.
Yes Zachary should have beaten Ward, he had three match points. But give credit to Ward. In a close match, you have to BEAT him, he is not going to give it to you. He does nothing spectacular with the ball, but you have to take it to him. If you don't, you lose. This is why Ward has had some decent wins over the past few years.
