A good matchup on another court as Ryan Cooper was taking on Samuel Holmes in the Copperfield/Jedi Knights battle.
SAP won its big match with Lost Forest 3-2 as Chris Towle and Eric Urban won the decisive line in a third set breaker. The Hurricanes 4.0 team won an easy one over the Acers.
No word yet on the big battles between the West Side 4.5 teams or the JCC=Sienna 4.0 matchup.
Towle was a liability tonight. Cold medicine and tennis don't mix.
ReplyDeleteThanks for carrying me Eric.
Some drama tonight: Sienna 4.5 pulled off another upset, beating Sugar Creek. Ian Bird and Smitty again pulled out a big win.
ReplyDeleteThe Deucebags-Hurricanes matchup didn't finish. The match stood at 2-2 when everyone's favorite worker turned the lights out. Sarosh and Miguel Morales had split sets and were about to start the breaker. Rick Boehck and Alain Tran pulled out the other line for the Deucebags.
I put in a call about the JCC/Sienna 4.0 match but no word yet. I am assuming Sienna won that one since the JCC player never called back. :)
My JCC friend just got back to me...as I kind of suspected, they pulled off the upset over Sienna, winning both singles and the top two doubles lines.
ReplyDeleteInexplicably, Sienna put Daniel Durand in doubles, where he got double bageled. I understand that his singles game may not be at its best on the faster indoor courts at JCC, but in hindsight it seems that using him in doubles was not a wise idea.
Any one have results from the West Side matchup?
ReplyDeletePS My team decided we're officially calling this a winning streak, we don't want to take our chances with the Hurricanes next week before we officially declare that.
Another nice win Smitty!!!
ReplyDeleteThe JCC has a good team and is particular strong indoors.
ReplyDeleteHowever, Sienna 4.0 is still in the driver's seat for the second playoff spot unless the JCC pulls off some kind of miracle at Lee LeClear against the Hurricanes later in the season.
Still, it won't hurt for Sienna 4.0 to sweat things out a little bit. Their not making the city playoffs after all of the smack talking here would be a truly epic fail.
Oops...I meant Darnel Durand, not Daniel.
ReplyDeletelet morales know that the fate of his team is on his shoulders now. why the heck is he going 3 sets with sarosh.... freeman, i think it's time to put sarosh on the b-team. he had played 3 matches and they're all 3 setters. what happen to green and hunckler? these two guys would demolish morales.
ReplyDelete4.5 wstc vs wstc results please....
ReplyDeleteI remember a discussion from last year where someone said that if a match did not finish because the facility turned off the lights, then the home team would lose that line.
ReplyDeleteIs this true?
Copperfield Lobsters 3-2 over the Jedi Knights.
ReplyDeleteWhat about WSTC Blacksheep?
Black Sheep won 3-2. No details yet but that means a season sweep over NWO. Still, NWO leads in the standings.
ReplyDeleteI am the JCC member who updated Htown on the JCC-Sienna match. After looking at the match scores on TennisLink, it looks like I mistook the names of one of my doubles opponents ("Donnie") for Darnel.
ReplyDeleteMy apologies for the error. Darnel lost 6-3,6-2 at line #2 singles.
I can see how that would happen with so many people on their roster....
ReplyDeleteThe fast courts were too much for Darnell's patty cake tennis.
ReplyDeletecome on all you stupid captains...post your results, so i have something to do at work!!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like Bobo and Whitsett were back on track yesterday. Maybe they won't be 4.5 next year.
ReplyDeletewow, not much reaction from last night's matches.
ReplyDeletewhat happens with the d-bags v hurricanes match now?
reaction to the westside battle? does that result change anything in that division?
yeah but Green and Hunckler would at least have the courtesy of calling any ball near/or on the baseline IN. so the Morales' demolishing would at least be fair
