As I'm sure all of you know, the season will be starting this week.
I've perused the rosters but really have no insight to add.
I have a feeling the 4.5 division is going to be really fun and interesting this year, but I'm still holding off judgment based on who ends up actually playing for whom.
4.0 looks down overall and as of yet I don't see a killer team. Again, it's quite early in the process and things can still change dramatically.
League tennis is like college basketball, though...the players may change, but the quality head coaches will continue to recruit talent and manage it effectively. I'm still backing the captains with the impressive resumés in my office pool.
Feel free to discuss.

It will be interesting to see how things pan out this year. As you rightly mentioned, it's still quite early and things can change in a big way. Keep up the great coverage.
ReplyDelete4.0s should come down to Freeman's team or Copperfield. Probably Freeman based on his past success.
ReplyDeleteLakeside will be a strong team in 4.0 this year. Not sure yet if Chancellors can have a repeat performance to win Houston.
ReplyDeleteI use to look forward to HTown's write up of the top teams in each division. All we get now is... "Feel free to discuss"??? He must be busy with other things.
ReplyDeleteI think we are fortunate to have a blog. We should have Captains post there input on other teams and really stir the pot. It would make good reading.
ReplyDeletechancellors might end their season early with back to back hard matches with titans, then lakeside, their first two weeks.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice of you guys to leave all the racist comments on the board
ReplyDeletethat cocky simon got spanked by j.bui once or twice. he'll definitely lose to hung. titans will dominate the doubles. chancellors dont have a chance.
ReplyDeleteApr 17, 2012 02:18 PM, why dont you post your name?
rascism never ends... people just do a better job of hiding it.

Babu is being courted by Sienna 4.0. They will make a run for nationals while riding the broad shoulders of "The World's Most Interesting Man".
ReplyDeleteLots of new teams in Houston, we learned again last year that Houston needs depth on our teams to compete in Dallas for State title. Dallas came out loaded last year. Better keep loading the rosters out there. Will Houston Racquet Club make a splash? They are the deepest in talent of any club in Houston.

Do 8 teams make the city playoffs in 4.0 and 4.5?
ReplyDeleteProbably 6 teams, 4 winners and best two next records.
ReplyDeleteThe predictions by 2:38 are just about right.
ReplyDeleteLOL@HRC have "deepest talent of any club in Houston". You must be new to summer league. They came in 3rd in their spring 4.5 league. FYI, the 4.5 big boys played in the Open division in the spring. The only real talent that HRC has is Keith Page's ability to send spam to HTA members.
Finally, forget the six team playoffs. Four divisions, take top two, eight team playoffs with two pools of four. Enough said.
I hope they go back to 6 playoff teams in 4.5. The 6 team round robin is the best way to determine who is the best team in Houston. This will also make every team play out all season long during the regular season if there are only 2 wild card spots available. If 8 teams get in we already know who those teams are going to be so we should not even have the regular season matches.
