No details on any of these matches. I got these scores second hand from a knowledgable source and thougtht I'd pass them along.
Mob Squad defaulted line 3 dubs but still beat Sugar Creek 3-2. Burmann and Day dominated again.
Copperfield squeaked past the Jedi Knights, who, I believe, also defaulted a line.
Hurricanes, 4.0 and 4.5 both won, though perhaps not in the smashing fashion they're accustomed to.
Lost Forest 5.0 demolished the Met 3-0 behind newcomer Alim Mambetov, who beat Amit Garg. Arun Nanjappa played doubles, but their line was not competitive.
Craig Bobo's 5.0 team beat Allen Teague's. Tor Krosby had a nice win for Teague, taking down Alex Beaux, who had straight setted him earlier in the year. Bobo and Huffman clinched the match with a win over Deluca/Ballesteros.
The Yutts beat Lost Forest 4-1. St. Thomas HS star Carter Axelsen is a bright spot on the Lost Forest 4.5 team.

Copperfield-Copperheads 4.0 team beat Quaill Forest 5-0.
ReplyDeleteSienna 4.0 beat SAP 3-2.
ReplyDeleteAccording to this article
ReplyDeletehttp://www.hamline.edu/apakabar/basisdata/1997/
05/01/0284.html, Roberto Narajos, who plays for the Met 4.0 team, won a gold medal in the Phillipines at the Palarong Pambansa. After a little Googling, I note that this event is "a national Olympics for Phillipine students, with victors from competitions at the school, province, and regional level emerging to participate." I'm assuming that this is the same Narajos since there are no more hits on his name besides a Gallery Open victory and this article.
According to the Experienced Player guidelines, former juniors (foreign or domestic) who had national rankings should not be playing 4.0 unless they are 36 years or older. Given that he is mowing down almost every 4.0(he beat Jack Scholl, the winner of Corpus's major zone event, 6-0, 6-1), I am wondering if he was honest on his self-rating form.
Does an appeal of a player's rating examine his self-rating form?
does anyone know the 4.5 city format this year for sure? Top 2 from each division?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is going to be top 2 teams from each division. It is already posted on HTA website.
ReplyDeleteRoberto Narajos d. Matthew Schlensker, 6-1; 6-7(7); 7-5 in the Coke. Look up Matthew's record and it looks like he's been playing 4.0 for while. With that being said Roberto is probably a really good 4.0 and average 4.5
ReplyDeleteJack Scholl lost two and oh in the first round of the Coke. Lost first round of consalation at Coke, too. Beating him one and oh isn't amazing.
ReplyDeleteNice win for Orozco from Lakeside Estates team over Rios last night.
ReplyDeleteAny predictions for who will be in finals of city playoffs in 4.0 and 4.5? Sorry, I didnt mention 3.5 because we do not seem to get much chatter from them on here.
ReplyDeleteDo we know if HOuston will get a second team in 5.0? Lost Forest will for sure be the top place finisher, but last year they had 2 teams.
ReplyDeleteWho will get the 2nd place spot in 4.5 division III?
ReplyDeleteLOL. I looked up Narajos's match record. He has played 12 4.0 matches at tournaments (Gallery and Copperfield). Here are his match scores:
ReplyDelete6-3,6-0
6-2,6-0
6-2,6-2
6-1,6-1
6-1,6-2
6-1,6-2
6-1,6-7,7-5
6-1,6-1
6-0,6-0
6-0,6-3
6-1,6-0
6-1,6-0
He lost 7 games TOTAL in 5 rounds at Copperfield. I'm not sure even a good 4.5 player could dish out the bagels the way Narajos is serving them up to 4.0s. As for the finals of the Gallery, perhaps he sandbagged or cramped.
The second spot in 4.5 division III is a dogfight. Sugar Creek needs a lot of things to go right, the Ssshhhwing don't necessarily need any help although a victory by Mob Squad over Yutts would help immensely and Yutts control their own destiny needing only a win in their remaining match against the Ssshhhwing (assuming that all of these teams beat Lost Forest in any remaining matches).
ReplyDeleteIn all likelihood, it will come down to the Yutts - Ssshhhwing rematch. If that is the case, the Yutts have to be favored based on their singles. It is just too hard to win matches by having to win all of the doubles lines as seems to be the case with the Ssshhhwing.
He still has not beaten a top 4.0. The Coke was weak this year and the Copperfield 4.0 draw was closer to 3.5 than it was to 4.0. I watched him play at both tournaments and he didn't look like a 4.5 to me.
ReplyDeleteAre the wildcards for Dallas done randomly or do they rotate? For instance, could Houston 4.5 get the wildcard again even though they got it last year?
ReplyDeleteThose scores do not reflect anything unless you know who he played. If he played a quality 4.0 player then that is a different story. A good 4.5 player can dish a lot of bagels.
ReplyDeleteKhang Quach is a beast! Has anyone checked this guy's results? He has like a 90% winning % and is a sleeper assassin in doubles. Think Red has a nasty left handed serve? This guy makes Red's serve look like powder puff. His game is solid and is Rafae-esque. VAMOS!
ReplyDeleteFoad just lost first round in Waco.
ReplyDeleteHas Quach improved a lot? He used to suck. It was hard to even give games to him out of charity.
ReplyDeleteKhang is barely a low level 4.5, and his serve is no weapon. Not sure who is trying to fluff him, but you must be on crack.
ReplyDeleteOk. Let's look at someone Narajos beat; Peter Strasser. He was finalist in 4.0 singles at Kingwood where he defaulted the finals. He was a member of Rice's 4.0 that went to Sectionals last year.
ReplyDeleteNarajos beat Strasser 6-2,6-1 at the Gallery. Strasser played Joe Schornik in the spring singles league and lost 6-1, 7-5. So, who is more likely to be a 4.5? Schornick or Narajos?
Freeman is fluffing Quach to take the spotlight off of his ringer, Narajos.
ReplyDeleteFreeman is puffy not fluffy.
ReplyDeleteNo one responded to who they think is going to meet Kingwood in finals of city playoffs. Not sure many teams can compete with them, Lopez and Dibua are damn strong.
ReplyDeleteMet, Yutts, or Westside, depending on how the draws end up. Kingwood is obviously very good and very deep but if these other teams have there best lineups out there, anything can happen.
ReplyDeleteThis year in 4.5 playoff should be tough. Kingwood, Met, Westside, and Mob Squad should be very competitive. Any one can win.
ReplyDeleteRoberto Najaros has beaten:
ReplyDeleteBo Bassett - 3,0
Paul Trevino - 2,0
Rick Malone - 2,2
Peter Strasser - 2,1
Fernando Ontiveros - 1,2
Matthew Schlensker - 6-1, 6-7(7), 7-5 (looks like cramping based scores)
John Petrarca - 1,1
James Rice - 1,0
Jack Scholl - 1,0
Brian Waligura - 0,3
Wow, didn't realize the beating he is delivering to some quality players. Freeman nice recruit!!!!
Bo Bassett is a below average 4.0 player. Paul Trevino is horrible, nost of his wins are by default. James Rice has not played a match in years so that does not say much. Ontiveros tends to wear down as the tournament goes on. Remaining players are nobody in the 4.0 world
ReplyDeleteI believe Freeman still has a couple of ex-college players hidden within his roster. he has yet to put his best line-up out....
ReplyDeleteSo, no one has ever bother to answer the original question posed about Narajos and his junior record in the Phillipines.
ReplyDeleteCan someone actually be DQed for not following the self-rating guidelines or is it accepted USTA practice to just lie away without penalty?
I love the line "Remaining players are nobody in the 4.0 world." I guess in the world of where former junior champions lie so they can play 4.0, someone who only manges to win a major zone championship at 4.0 (Jack Scholl) is a nobody.
ReplyDeleteJason Turpen and Robert Pritula were both ranked Juniors not too long ago, and should not be playing 4.0. Freeman, Red Benzon etc. always have tons of ringers if you don't like it play on their team or play tournaments.
ReplyDeleteI agree, he is a nobody. Long live Kallus.
ReplyDeleteJack has never won a major zone. He won the "consolation" draw in Corpus. There is a BIG didfrence between winning the main draw and winning the consolation draw.
ReplyDeleteJack is a nice guy that is an average 4.0 at best. Strasser has to be Roberto's best win but Peter had just played a couple of long 3-setters so I'm sure Peter does not lose that match when he is fresh.
I agree 100% about ringers. I have Roger Federer's secret twin brother "Jason" Federer flying in to play on my 3.5 team for city playoffs.
ReplyDeleteRemember if you ain't cheatin, you ain't tryin.
I agree that Jack Scholl isn't so great and that there are other 4.0s that were junior players. But this guy seems to be been the junior champion for all of the Phillipines at one time.
ReplyDeleteNot a single 4.0 (with the exception of the Gallery finals where he cramped in the second set) has given him even the least amount of fight.
So, if Freeman signs up the Boys Under-18 national champ for next season, is that cool?
Whoever is yapping about Narajos, just shut up. No one wants to hear your whining. All of you 4.0 nobodies should get some game anyways so you can compete.
ReplyDeleteJeez, I hate the Internet and Google. It makes putting together a team of ringers a lot more work.
Junior champion for all of the Phillipenes.
ReplyDeleteThat is about as big of a stretch as I've ever heard of. If so, then the junior tennis in the Phillipenes is terrible.
Dude, everybody knows that Narajos is a ringer. Why do you even bother complaining? You shoulda just recruited him for your team.
ReplyDeleteAll of the smart captains stock up on whatever good players they can find.
I've lived and played tennis in SE Asia and the tennis (juniors included) is pretty bad.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, why does the USTA ignore people lying on their self-rating? This seems to happen every year.
How did he lie? Because he won a medal (assuming it is actually him), so what? How does that translate into a lie. Before you start spreading lies about people please at least know what you are talking about.
ReplyDeleteIf he wasn't highly ranked in the national 18's it don't matter if he won some Gold metal.
ReplyDeleteSince I've given up captaining, I'll comment.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter if Narajos lied. If doesn't matter if Narajos was a national junior champion. The reality is that to build a team destined for Sectionals and Nationals you find the best players that you can and have them self-rate at whatever level your team is playing at.
The USTA has no effective mechanism for checking self-ratings. If you are worried about them being DQ due to dynamic NTRP, just play them at doubles and tell them to win 6-4, 6-4. Put them out at singles only when abolutely necessary.
In Narajos's case, even if multiple captains complained, I doubt the USTA would bother to investigate something as flimsy as a single web page. We don't even know its the same Narajos.
If you are so worried about how good he is (or maybe not so good), then you should have recruited him yourself. HIS NAME ON YOUR ROSTER = I WOULD HAVE NEVER BROUGHT THE TOPIC UP.
ReplyDeleteWhy are there so many haters on here? So Jason recruits really well. All of the other Sections cheat up a storm to put together a team that will do well at Nationals.
ReplyDeleteYou guys should be thanking Jason.
So am I the only one that thinks what is going on here sucks?
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm naive enough to think that the whole point of USTA levels was to rank players so that most matches would be competitive. I don't know if Narajos is 4.0 or not, but its pretty clear he is destroying the competition.
Just out of curiosity, have you ever advanced to Sectionals or Nationals?
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of all of this talk about 4.0 sandbaggers. My 4.5 sandbaggers would crush any "Phillipine national junior champion". Heck, even Kallus could probably take him.
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of hearing it period. Go back to the buffet lines and quit bitchin.
ReplyDeleteDang, that comment about "buffet lines" distracted me. I forgot what I was going to post.
ReplyDeleteThere are better 4.0's playing on other teams across the state.
ReplyDeleteWho said "buffet lines?" I will meet you there.
ReplyDeleteI am sure there are better 4.0 rated guys across the state, and at Nationals. Just because he has run through local tournaments, does not mean he is going to be all that competitive at Sectionals.
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure. Freeman's big 4.0 ringer, Sarosh, went undefeated in league play all the way thru Nationals. I think he's pretty good at finding the best "4.0" players out there.
ReplyDeleteWhat would the Hurricane's top lineup be for a big playoff match besides Narajos at number one singles?
ReplyDeleteSarosh is also undefeated in league play in 4.5 He is 0-0 and has broken the world record for longest recovery time for a minor injury! Hope he never gets tennis elbow or something, that would put him out for years I guess.
ReplyDeleteNarajos is not the Hurricanes best player and certainly not their #1 singles player. People are just being mislead by his lop-sided tournament results against non-playoff level opponents.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't worry about their singles players anyway.
I agree with the last poster. Tournament players and league players are two different beasts. And I have seen the majority of the team, he is not the best player.
ReplyDeleteWho is there best player then? Martinez? Do they have any good doubles teams?
ReplyDeleteThe team is solid throughout. Anything new to discuss?
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to the city championships - 4.5 should be fun. Kingwood should be worried, however, if they continue their success. I'm sure the red flags will be waiving - Armstrong, Oman, and Hulbert could be disqualified. The last loss I believe for Oman was at sectionals, Armstrong lost maybe once all year, and I don't think Hulbert has lost since 2 seasons ago....maybe they should start throwing some matches.
ReplyDeleteI like how Freeman loves to downplay his ringer's ability. "Narajos is not the Hurricanes best player and certainly not their #1 singles player."
ReplyDeleteWatch at city playoffs and Sectionals. Narajos will be out there playing in every crucial match.
Freeman will lose Dwyer and Phan to red flags before Kilshaw loses any of those guys.
ReplyDeleteI mean Pham.
ReplyDeleteYES there is a process in place - checks and balance - to get players DQd, kicked out of the league, and sanctioned for lying on the self rate. It's called the league itself. If you see a flagrant violation then find out what you can - send a grievance to Tosha. YES - Tosha will contact the player and verify what they put down. Not only that - she'll Google the player herself. It's very simple. So quit whining and do something about it. Otherwise - SHUT UP!
ReplyDeleteThis is the former league captain here. The process referred to in the previous post is a joke. Don't trust me. Just check out the November 17, 2008 post in this blog by Greg.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that the only real way to effectively complain is to go straight to national USTA since I'm not sure if they are aware of all of the "exceptions" to the Experienced Player guidelines that are being granted.
Oh yes, and one more things. I like the system the way it is so don't take my comments as whining. If I ever get the time to go back to building a Sectional/National USTA team, I don't want any significant obstacles in my way. I've been where Freeman is and it's cool being the object of everyone's attention.
ReplyDeleteAdam Kent should not be allowed in 4.5. He was a top division 3 player very recently and has had strong results in open level touraments.
ReplyDeleteA. Ford ever lost a 4.5 match or a 5.0 match?
ReplyDeleteWell, in regards to Benzon adding players to his roster, there is nothing the USTA has in place to prohibit a captain from adding a player to their roster as long as they play a minimum of two matches. And one of those matches can be a default. Players on a roster should be required to commit to more matches, none being a default. And all rosters should be closed within the first couple of matches.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me started about the what the USTA should be doing. They don't give a rat's behind about providing a competitive, enjoyable league experience.
ReplyDeleteThe USTA's view is that we are all sheeple to be fleeced. Anything that let's more sheeple join the league, the better for the USTA.
An example? The skyrocketing league fees that the USTA is introducing BEYOND membership. $20 to sign up on-line for summer league. LOL. Like it costs them anywhere near that amount to run their servers.
Totally agree with the last comment.
ReplyDeleteCosts should be decreasing as the capex investment made in 2002-2003 is fully depreciating (running servers), not INCREASING like we are seeing it happen.
Maybe we are all individually funding Patrick McEnroe's salary as "talent development guru" or what ever his new title is. Talk about making a career off of your brother's coat tails....
and you can be proud of yourself as the person who takes the time to post personal attacks under the cloak of "anonymous" about someone on a blog that covers a "stupid amature tennis league"
ReplyDeletepretty impressive
Other than Freeman,Dwyer, Towle and Green almost everyone on here posts as anonymous.
ReplyDeleteThat's fine, I'm posing as anonymous myself. The cowards are the ones that make personal attacks about people without disclosing who they are. What's with the personal attacks anyway? It's a freaking tennis league.
ReplyDeletePeople who follow Jesus's teachings don't have to worry about their actions being exposed.
ReplyDeletePeople only post under their name when they want you to know who they are. Any of the mentioned people can post anonymous at any given time just like I just did.
ReplyDeleteAnyone can post as anonymous or a made up name. I just post under my name to follow the comments via email.
ReplyDeleteMy reader supports when a new topic is posted, but there is not a way to follow comments real time....
Narajos just won in the finals of 4.5.... 6-1,6-0.....
ReplyDeleteRed Benzon is a convicted felon?? is that true--
ReplyDeletethere is nothing wrong with posting anonymously--but when there are unsubstantiated personal attacks its a different story. A substantiated personal attack is on the other hand fair game in the world of internet blogging. Red puts himself in the ring by merely taking such an interest in amature tennis league in houston. therefore, he knows that this stuff may come out.
ReplyDeleteTennis League is a Joke everybody in Houston is here to compete and yet in we just rag on each other why not just leave it on the court and let your racquet do the talking.
ReplyDeleteHow do the 5.5 players like Kudrick and Blessing get bumped down to 4.5. I understand Blessing played Mxd but what about Kudrick he didn't play Mxd.Can someone explain to me how something like this happens.
ReplyDeleteKingwood Crush ultimately will dominate League in houston playoffs.
ReplyDelete1.Omon
2.Juan Lopez
1.Armstrong/Valentine
2. Hurlbert/Burris
3.Wright/Pekhar/Hai Vu/PhiHuynh
With thess Line ups they are just too solid and deep to say the Least. Can you say Sectionals for sure???
1. Kudrick is a good player but a 5.5? Not even close. He shouldn't lose much in 4.5 but he's definately not playig 2 levels down.
ReplyDelete2.Kingwood is not a lock to go to sectionals. They are definately the favorites but there are 3 or 4 teams that COULD upset them. They have more good players than anyone but can only play 8 in a match. City will be tough.
I don't have the time or access to police the blog as well as I used to, but please keep the attacks tennis-related.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Kingwood is the team to beat in 4.5. It will be interesting to see how the playoff brackets shake out. The Hurricanes clearly have an advantage in that they will be placed in the opposite bracket from Kingwood. My own biased opinion is that Kingwood is the top team, Hurricanes second, Mob Squad third and Westside fourth. Whether we will have balanced brackets is anyone's guess...
Any predictions on how the Met Hurricanes will finish out the season in 4.0?
ReplyDeleteI predict there will be a rash of close matches.
Also, his ringers will either be held out entirely now or suddenly "stop being dominating". We wouldn't want to confirm all the talk about his ringers now would we.
Any thoughts?
The Met can dominate 4.0 league IV without having to bring out its big guns.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, there are 4 4.0 teams capable of making it to Sectionals. The Met and Chancellors are the two favorites. The JCC Dudes and the Copperfield Copperheads are the two other possibilities.
At city playoffs, there will be two pools. The winner of each makes Sectionals. The Met and the SP Top Spinners will be in one pool. The Top Spinners have no shot against the Met. (Note that the Top Spinners played in the weaker 4.0 HTA league in the spring.)
The loser of the JCC/Chancellors match this week will also be in that pool. The Met will play that match on Thursday night July 10. Expect the Met to put out its best lineup for that match and crush the loser of the JCC/Chancellors match.
The winner of the JCC/Chancellors match will be in the pool with the Copperheads. I expect the match between these two teams will determine the winner of that pool. In general, I expect Chancellors to come through here. But, they are certainly not the lock that the Met is.
You are basing your analysis off of last years playoff structure. What makes you so confident that it will remain the same?
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you why I know because then everyone would be able to figure out who I am.
ReplyDeleteIf that doesn't satisfy you, then ask yourself this question: Would the HTA use a playoff structure that has its best two 4.0 teams (Met and Chancellors) in the same pool? This would allow a weaker team to go to Sectionals.
Of course, the real reason is that HTA is just lazy and wants to reuse last year's webpage. LOL
So are you saying that the 4.5 playoff structure will be the same as well?
ReplyDeleteWe already know who you are. You are Jimmy Hoffa. Since the AFL/CIO (truckers) thing didn't work out, you are taking over league tennis instead.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why everyone keeps looking for bits of you buried on a farm.
i thought he was buried in the meadowlands...
ReplyDeleteWestside can beat any of the top 4.5 teams. They would have went to sectionals last year had 1 or 2 points fell their way. Based on our results Westside is clearly one of the top 2 teams.
ReplyDeleteAny of the four teams mentioned will be tough to beat: Kingwood, MET, Westside, and the Mob Squad. Not sure if the Mob or Westside can beat Kingwood, but the MET will most likely benefit from being opposite Kingwood in the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteCopperfield is no slouch.
ReplyDeleteCopperfield has the players, just hasnt come together this year.
ReplyDeleteI dare anyone on West Side to come up with a lineup that can even think of beating that Kingwood lineup. I dare you: Give me a lineup that can take 3 lines from that Kingwood monster.
ReplyDeleteLine up vs Kingwood Crush
ReplyDeleteSelf rated player at line 1 singles upset coming
Self Rated player Line 2
singles upset coming
Your dare is coming.
Plus with Juan Lopez being DQ'ed for self rating wrong it will hurt the Crush just in time!!!
Didn't West Side come within a tie-breaker of beating the "kingwood monster" in City last year? And I assume you have seen their new players as well? Quit beating your chest. There are 4 or 5 really good teams in 4.5. We'll see how it plays out.
ReplyDeleteRed lets leave the ringers at home.
ReplyDeleteI would like to propose this agreement.
Don Rios vs David Guy
Kris Knutson vs Herb Morton
I believe your team should win both of these lines but I am willing to find out. If both of your players agree let me know.
Knutson
Unconfirmed but I hear 4.0 Chancellor's may be in trouble. Dan Free has disputed their last match. Anyone know the details?
ReplyDeleteChancellor's is in BIG doodoo...
ReplyDeleteWow, look at Knutson calling out Red. I like Knutson's chances against Herb and Guy and Rios is a toss up.
ReplyDeleteWay to make things interesting Knutson.
Didn't Knutson choke at 4.0 Nationals? Why is Knutson asking for a singles match up. Is that the only way he can get himself in the line up? Personally he will be be put in his place if Benzon does let this match happen with Herb and then hopefully then he will get bumped back down to 4.0's so he can push and hack where his game belongs.
ReplyDeleteWhat's going on with the Dan Freeman protest please explain?
ReplyDeleteDon't start talking smack on KK at nationals, he did not choke. The guy he lost to from NoCal (that won nationals) was a mid-40's teaching pro that played college tennis back in the day.
ReplyDeleteWe all know Knutson's game...make the other person make the mistake. The only problem was that this guy was Knutson-squared.
They had a very good match that Kris could have won. One challenging thing was that his court was the LAST to go on and by the time they started playing all other 4 lines were done and we were tied 2-2. There were people watching all around and then the AU film crew showed up.
Just my $.02 from some one who was there.
Greg, you should really constrain the posts to people who actually log in under a registered username.
ReplyDeleteI know you log IP's, but you should 86 this anonymous shish.
Chancellor's did a switcheroo. Played 2 players but recorded the names incorrectly.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the process now for Chancellors? Can anyone be DQ'd?
ReplyDeleteWhere the hell do people get their information about Juan Lopez being an illegal self rate?
ReplyDeleteThe same place most people get their info, from the "that guy is better than me so he must have lied" evidence room.
ReplyDeleteLast year, we played Chancellors and they played one player that was NOT on the team nor on the roster. I don't know if this is the case in this situation or not.
ReplyDeleteThe entire Chancellor's team should be DQd and precluded from playoffs. As bad as CA debacle at Nationals 2 years ago.
ReplyDeleteThey sent 2 players to play a line but then entered 2 different in TennisLink
ReplyDeleteEasy solution...
ReplyDeleteTake pictures of people on the court to avoid all of the racist comments that are to follow.
Everyone drives to the match, so they should have some ID. Have the four people stand there with their TDL in hand and take a pic. One should have a camera capable of zooming in to see details later if necessary.
Sounds like Chancellor's has a history of this. Whoever posted about them doing that last year should contact Dan Free. That's unacceptable.
ReplyDeleteWho's Dan Free? So chancellors played someone that was not on their roster? or just keyed in the wrong names? Some of them needs to go get their eyes checked.... many questionable calls.
ReplyDeleteDan Free is the captain of the 4.0 Village Nights, the teams that Chancellors played and beat last week.
ReplyDeleteDan's a nice guy, but he's very careful to check about things like incorrectly recording names. I don't know if Chancellors engaged in any monkey business, but I'm not surprised that Dan caught them if they did.
I disagree with Towles comment. Most league matches are fun, casual affairs. Let's keep them that way.
ReplyDeleteHow about instead, we just levy some significant penalties when hypercompetitive captains start knowingly breaking the rules?
My guess is that DQing one of these superteams from city playoffs would cure the problem once and for all.
I disagree with Towles comment. Most league matches are fun, casual affairs. Let's keep them that way.

Dan is a nice guy AND he is very meticulous about scores and entering the scores correctly. Sounds like Chancellor's is BUSTED!
ReplyDeleteSanction against CA captain who brought an illegal player to Nationals was that he was banned for 10 years from the league. Don't know what happened of his protest. Also don't know what sanctions were placed on the entire team and/or the actual player who played for someone else. Obviously the entire team must have known what was going down - as is, I'm sure, the case of the entire Chancellor's team.
ReplyDeleteThe USTA popped the California cheaters hard on paper but on protest and the appeal, the USTA turned into a bunch of pu****s and relented and I believe the penalties were reduced to 2 years max for worst offenders.
ReplyDeleteThe loser who said Paul Trevino is a horrible player is probably someone who I have already beaten, and can kiss my ass! I am Paul Trevino and am not anonymous like most of you blog loosers, and am calling out the A-hole who said I get a lot of walk overs. If you had bothered to look you would have seen that I won Brookhaven and didn't have one single walkover! If you have the balls to man up and tell me who you are I will drive down there and can your ass on the court and see who the horrible player is! Your probably a 3.0 or 3.5 who has been at that level for at least 4 years! I'd like to see your level and how you do? Naw, you will keep your mouth shut and hide behind anonymous and remain the real ASS!
