Sectionals Talk

No big preview here. I'm sure most people are aware of the Houston teams who will be playing in the Dallas heat this weekend. Will try to post news and notes if possible.

Best of luck to all the locals. Hope all the top players make the trip.

    3. Rumors and stupidity abound at 2013 Sectionals. The San Antonio 4.5 men apparently think they hung the moon as one team member apparently (not allegedly) made a smug comment about rolling over the Corpus Christi guys and Corpus should not even show up to play the match. Well, one of the Corpus guys overheard the comment as he was in the vicinity and used the comment to fire up his team mates.

Then, a certain SA teaching pro who played the pro tour (6.0 I guess) made a comment to one of the Corpus guys about hitting the ball like a little boy because the Corpus player lobbed consistently when that teaching pro made it to net. And to add more salt to the wound, that SA player got reported as the omnipotent Allan Torres in the match results. Didn't want to tarnish his 6.0 rating and ATP points I guess or affect his status in the SA community. But SA still lost due to being so good on paper and losing to a bunch of scrubs from Corpus. Another blown opportunity for the SA guys who overall are pretty decent AND quality players.

Lastly, Cambon is a good guy from people across the state say about him.

    4. He wasn't Alan Torres !.....he was Victor Torres !!,....But neither victor or alan are top 4.5 players.A good serve doesn't make you a 4.5 player (victor torres),....not when the rest of your game sucks !!

  5. Poor San Antonio 4.0 women's team as they had some of the highest ranked players in the state who did not play during their loss to the Dallas team. Those two women not played had winning records against one particular Dallas player and might have figured out a way to win. Not saying guaranteed win but maybe a better possibility than the players who got smoked from SA.
Wonder what the captain was thinking about at that point in the flight pairings. Looks like a lot of players failed who probably should not have played that match but hey, who knows how the women think nowadays with the heat and all.

AND the wildcard SA women's team is now in the finals. Decisions, decisions, and dumber decisions. Hope the other SA team wins and goes to nationals since THEY finished #2 in the SA final standings. May the better SA team continue on.
