Is there anything interesting going on this week? I don't think so. I was gonna' do a preview, but couldn't find anything to write about. Is it playoff time yet???
Maybe something interesting will happen in a make-up match...

RIOS SUCK!
ReplyDeleteCHANCELLORS SUCK!
Just a DQ in 4.5 - Varun Munjal of Katy Coaches self-rated as 4.0 and is now 5.5.
ReplyDeletethat was quick. it took an entire season for santiago lock to get dq'd
ReplyDeleteI think we all saw that one coming. Who protested him? Kerig protests everybody that is 4.0, but I doubt it would help him. My money is still on him though. The "5.5" Munjal was 0-2 wasn't he?
ReplyDeleteIf you are going to self-rate at 4.0 and you are obviously much better than that then you got to tank a few games to make it look close. It's not that hard.
ReplyDeleteor don't be a recent superchamp or college player. don't matter how many games you tank if you have that history.
ReplyDeleteMoi? 10:37, I'm hurt. No, I haven't protested anybody. What makes you say that? I may answer questions for people who want to understand the eligibility rules, but I haven't protested anyone. Not yet at least...
ReplyDeletePK
Apologize. All those stories I heard about PK from seniors across the state affected my judgment I reckon.
ReplyDeleteAh, you must mean Stetzer and Fincher, the ones who are even teaching their sons how to tank an entire Fall league. First-class parenting that is. Consider the source, my friend. Apology accepted.
ReplyDeleteHere's a trick to pull the wool over everyone's eyes: If you're not happy with your rating, just renew your USTA membership with a different home address and add a middle initial to your name, and voila, you've just created a new person and can rate yourself however you want. Believe me, its already been done by some.
ReplyDeleteI'm bored at work. Name names please!!! I know one.
ReplyDeletemunjal played for trinity and a recent graduate. he's the only 4.0 rated player on the coaches team while playing line#1 doubles and singles. that's a definite red flag. just how bobby fox got caught, but he was a 4.5 not 5.5
ReplyDeleteRegarding the 10:37 post. Who cares who protested that guy. The person who protests is not the problem. Players that play out of their level IS the problem. That is what is wrong with society today, everyone blames something or someone else except who should be blamed. We live in a society of "no one will accept responsibility". Someone else did it.
ReplyDeleteHere here. If you cheat, you will get caught!
ReplyDeleteStephen Coyle
ReplyDeleteDidn't Coyle have a 4.5 YER? For some reason the TTA website only has MYR (except 2010) but no YER. How do you find out what someone's rating was at the end of a given year.
ReplyDeleteThe Met 5.0 team added an interesting name: Gaston Verna. I've heard through the grapevine that he is VERY good.
ReplyDeletegaston verna- abraham baldwin college
ReplyDeletehttp://www.abac.edu/ir/FactBook/2005-2006/athletics05.htm
If he's in his thirties he can play 5.0
ReplyDeleteTry Division 2 All-American,
ReplyDeletehttp://www.collegeandjuniortennis.com/iiAllAmerican05.HTM
As far as I can tell, he is 32 so he is legal for 5.0 according to the self-rating guidelines.
BTW, I've seen him play and he's a beast. Good luck to the rest of you 5.0s.
it's a dog fight between lakeside, willow fork, and the met. these teams might end up with the same record. might come down to all the individual wins, sets lost, etc...
ReplyDeleteCould prove to be a interesting and meaningful match tomorrow night in 5.0 with an improved Sugar Creek roster and the resurgence of Sean Straley in singles taking on the Met.
ReplyDeletePotential Match-ups:
Singles: SC-Straley vs. Met-Bouffier or Gaston
Dubs:SC-Bharath/Sumrall/Ford v Met-Nanjappa/Zolas/Broach
Dubs:SC-Ford/Benzon/Sumrall vs. W. Taylor/ Dollar/Nanjappa
If the Met brings their "A" line-up, then I predict 2-1 win for Met. If they bring their "B" line-up, then Sugar Creek has a chance to pull off the upset and put themselves in the race.
All I can say is it should be some good tennis to watch.
Craig Bobo
bharath, sumrall, ford, benzon are not "5.0" upper tier doubles players. just look at their doubles record and the opponents they faced. straley would lose to nanjappa and gaston, but would be a tight match with bouffier. the met could easily sweep this tonite and send sugar creek packing for the rest of the season.
ReplyDeleteCraig Bobo is almost as big a cheater as Red.
ReplyDeleteI'll take Straley against any 5.0 in Houston
ReplyDeleteTo anon 8:48. Nobody ever said the names you listed were upper tier level doubles players. Although, I can assure you that they would all beat you in doubles. Since your posting anonymously and your on the Met Team then why not just let your racquet do the talking?
ReplyDelete11:24 you must be on the titans team. i'm not from the met and you're not even close. your team has no chance of making top3. did you know there's a tennislink on usta website, that can pull up past results? well, all you have to do is the check their doubles results against the caliber of the other doubles team to make an assumption. it's simple, do the math. let me give you some advice. ford is on a roll from last year, and definitely a better singles player. why not play him singles instead of doubles
ReplyDeleteYes!!!
ReplyDelete5.0 smack talk. I like it. More please!
sumrall was 26-3 in 4.5 men's league the last 2 years. Just sayin.
ReplyDeleteMr 11:38, how well do you know the tennis scene?? If you really knew what your talking about then you would know that Gaston is ineligible and that Bouffier is not even an option for the Met in singles. Your assumptions are heresay. What level do you play in?
ReplyDeleteI play with your mamma's team!
ReplyDeleteGeorge Jefferson
I'm moving on up!
26-3 in 4.5 league. that's impressive, but this is 5.0. just sayin
ReplyDeleteverna's not ineligible. And he's gonna make straley look bad. Adios, Sugarcreek.
ReplyDeleteno one will beat Aadrian this year so LS is up 1-0 right out of the gate in each match
ReplyDeleteVerna will beat Aadrian down... him and his FroHawk.
ReplyDeleteThe Frohawk makes him extremely aerodynamic.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see a rematch against Aadrian vs Omon. As far as I remmeber, Omon made a bad call which cost Aadrian the match. I think Aadrian would take him to school. 1 match for FroHawk!
ReplyDeleteYes I would give the edge to Aadrian, unless Omon decides to get a Frohawk.
ReplyDeleteHasker and James Bui are lovers
ReplyDeleteHis fro hawk is the stupidest thing I've ever seen besides Ted Pumma's court costume
ReplyDeleteLeave Ted alone...he gets cold in July
ReplyDeleteYeah, Ted get's cold in a frigid 99 degree. Maybe if Ted get's a Frohawk he might play as well as Aadrian. The only problem would be how can he wear his Gilligan hat?
ReplyDeleteThis blog is cold blooded, but very entertaining.
ReplyDeleteVerna would beat Aadrian down if he was eligible
ReplyDeleteanyone got an update on Sienna & JCC
ReplyDeleteWho cares about Sienna? Bunch of 4.0s. JCC probably won 5-0.
ReplyDeleteJCC won 3-2 in a close match with Sienna.
ReplyDeleteSugar Creek beat Met 2-1
ReplyDeleteMet team defaulted the singles.
5-0? PSHHHH, dont look down on us
ReplyDelete~One of the juniors
Nothing too exciting at Lee Leclear last night (no gunshots). I don't know all the scores, but I do know that the Deucebags, Hurricane 4.5, Hurricane 4.0 and Unicorns all won.
ReplyDeleteI heard the Met 5.0 singles guy didn't feel like fighting the traffic and just decided not to show up. Nice teammate.
Anyone know the Unicorn's scores?
ReplyDeleteLook on Tennis link you penis
ReplyDeleteso are there any penalties for teams not reporting scores w/in 48hrs?
ReplyDeleteLate matches at Memorial got rained out. The courts were playable though.
ReplyDeletejuniors, stay out of this adult blog, you play in your own league
ReplyDeleteDid anyone see how the new young kid play from the dbags last night? Is he any good? they lost in straights 3 and 1 at line one.
ReplyDeleteYo, Sienna juniors. Learn to use Tennislink.
ReplyDeleteY'all have won two match where three of your four opponents are 4.0s. At least beat a pair of 4.5s before you start with smack talking.
Most teams play their scrubs against Sienna because you guys suck.
Yeah, Chancellor also just added a new junior, Kevin Tse. He also got spanked. I guess that he could have tanked, but that seems unlikely.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that lots of desperate captains are just searching for more firepower. Most juniors are easy pickings for experienced 4.5 league players.
Most 18 year-old juniors have two problems:
ReplyDelete1. They aren't fully filled out so they can't overwhelm good 4.5 adults with power.
2. They don't have the match experience (especially at doubles) to counter all of the junk, lobbing, and gamesmanship that adults have had years to practice.
Does anyone know how a match is considered where one of the players retires? Are the results counted towards ratings somehow?
ReplyDeleteVarun wasn't even able to finish playing at Trinity because of knee surgeries.....3 surgeries in the last few years we know who turned him. Pretty bad 0-2 in 4.5 and now a 5.5...Half the guys on our team can beat him...
ReplyDeleteSorry, I got no sympathy. To end up at 4.5, he had to lie on his self-rating. If his knee are shot, he could just told the truth about his playing history and then gone for a medical appeal.
ReplyDeleteLOL. I looked up "poor old" Varun's matches. Your "4.0" split sets with Quack Bui on his bad knees. Guess you shudda had one of those guys on your team that can beat Varun whip up on Quack.
ReplyDeleteCheatin foolzzz. Glad you got busted.
sienna could have won, watch out for them, they could be a spoiler.
ReplyDeleteHey Sienna Fan, your team has no chance in this league, how are you gonna win a match? Don't think you guys can beat Sweatwater. Both sienna and sweetwater would have been okay in the 4.0 league, the 2 boys are still too weak at 4.5
ReplyDeleteVictor Lee
ReplyDeleteYes, Sienna could definitely spoil Sweetwater's winless season.
ReplyDeleteI know it's hard being irrelevant, but please wake us up when you go from "cudda won" to actual winning.
5.5 minus 1 knee surgery= 5.0
ReplyDelete5.0 minus 1 knee surgery= 4.5
4.5 minus 1 knee surgery= 4.0
5.5 minus 3 knee surgeries= 4.0 rating
4.5 minus 1 sex change operation = Sienna
ReplyDeleteNah, Betsie's ladies would own Sienna 4.5
ReplyDeleteGaston Verna had some ATP wins. You can look him up on ATP World Tour.com . Also was a thrid place finisher at JUCO nationals. Those are minimum strong 5.5 results.
ReplyDeleteLOL. I told you Verna was a beast.
ReplyDeletehow well did the new kid play for the dbags? how good is he really? or will he just bring the team down with him.
ReplyDeletehenagan is in god mode, they don't need the kid
ReplyDeletemaybe someone should take a look at Ed Hess 5.0 or Edwin Hess 4.5 talk about cheating....I'm pretty sure they are the same guy.
ReplyDeleteLmao, we didnt get asked to play 4.5... we got stuck in it cause we were super champs in 16s... we would gladly play 4.0 and keep our perfect record of 7-0 going :P and guy that said to use tennis link, im glad you care enough to look me up <3 cool story bro... wana tell me again later?
ReplyDeleteyou were 7-0 is the bs spring league. whats your summer record?
ReplyDeleteproly would be perfect 2, cause i watched the 4.0 sienna team, and the matches didnt look that hard :P honestly the matches we lost also were close, we split sets against ur "4.5" standards...ya digg? we never got completely swept or overwhelmed, like i said, not our fault we got stuck in 4.5 :P i blame the broken USTA re-rating system
ReplyDeleteI don't think that anyone said the juniors on Sienna sucked. You guys are probably around average 4.5s. The problem is that you are the best players on your team by a large margin. That's why everyone says "Sienna 4.5 sucks".
ReplyDeletePersonally, I like the fact that you guys are on the team. It makes the matches more competitive.
It makes one match competitive until the adults your playing with takes you seriously instead on giving you a games to make it a close match. ya know, like they go down to your level, its like playing mix, you dink around until it's time to win then you win it.
ReplyDeleteI SAY USTA AND HTA SHOULD CHANGE THE AGE LIMIT TO 21, THAT WAY YOU WHEN YOU JOIN AT 21 YOU ARE EITHER A SCRUB JUNIOR THAT DID NOT MAKE IT TO COLLEGE THEN YOU CAN PLAY LEAGUE TENNIS (INSTEAD OF A COLLEGE PROSPECT LIKE MONTY'S PLAYER) OR A COLLEGE TENNIS DROP OUT THAT WANTS TO JOIN OUR LEAGUE AND WOULD HAVE TO BE RATED AT 5.5, SO NO SANBAGING HAPPENING
ReplyDeleteyou mean a tennis player that attempted to play in college at not good enough.
ReplyDeleteI aggree muy mucho or should I say it in my native vietnamese language
ReplyDeleteDon't start in on the college player b.s. my blood is starting to boil. Not many American juniors can play college tennis since all the scholarships are going to overseas players so there are so many levels of college players, varsity, practice team, club team, there is no easy answer to the problem. The goal is to get tested in close matches so if your dominating or getting dominated on a regular basis then there is something wrong with the rating system or the captains ego that things he should be playing up a level and damns his team by forcing them to jump up with him instead of resigning as captain and leaving the team on their natural level so they can stay competitive! The jerk off captains bitching about their teams getting smoked should look in the fucking mirror...Your the reason your team sucks maybe you should have broken up your team instead of forcing them to get bent over at 4.5 without any lube. Just because your rant is in fucking caps doesn't make it any more serious...dumb ass
ReplyDeleteSorry, meant to say the captains "that think" he should be playing up a level. I am drunk and pissed off for no reason other than paying 10 bucks for a fucking vodka/tonic at an overrated douchebag bar on Washington, saw the duecebags there!
ReplyDeleteAlthough it will mean my team will probably be left out, I hope 4.5 stays with a 6-team round-robin playoff format this year. That format creates a lot of drama and is fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteThere's a huge problem with the way the USTA handles Jr players right now. Currently a Jr ranked top 20 in the state has to self rate as a 5.5. That is probably accurate as historically these players end up playing at a D1 or top ranked D2 school. But after that it's a huge gap. A superchamp ranked 21+ can self-rate as a 4.5 (ie. the 18 yr old on Monty's mixed team). How do you drop from a 5.5 to a 4.5 that's not right and clearly superchamps in the top 40 should be rated higher than a 4.5 based on where 90%+ of those players end up playing.
ReplyDeleteThe USTA needs to raise the age for adult league to 21. Children should not be playing in adult leagues. By 21 it's clear where their profiling should place them.
ReplyDeletewhen are people considered adults, and can be tried as adults? 18... so keep with it since 18 years olds are considered adults
ReplyDeleteQuestion then. What do you do about an 18 year old self-rating before they sign a LOI for college. What if an 18 year old self-rates while they are ranked 30th in the country and then a month later they are ranked in the top 20. I'm fine with keeping it the way it is but they need to tighten up the requirements and provide more clarity on these situations.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: "What do you do about an 18 year old self-rating before they sign a LOI for college?"
ReplyDeleteAnswer: "Sign him up at 4.5 ASAP and hope the crushes all of the old farts."
Anybody Know anything about the Unicorn Singles Lines? They seem pretty weak, I thought this was supposed to be a dark Horse team in the playoffs or something.
ReplyDeleteUnicorn? Is that a cheerleading squad?
ReplyDeleteI think all the Juniors in Houston should get together and wipe everybody off the charts. so we can start our own generation for houston tennis.
ReplyDeleteWhy would u think that Ed Hess 5.0 and Edward john Hess 4.5 are the same player? One guy played for Lakeside mixed doubles in '08 and the other guy played mixed doubles for Lakeside in '09. They might be cousins but the same guy....naaaaah.
ReplyDeleteGood Idea, looking forward to next summer season. Sweeeeeeeep everybody in the league
ReplyDeleteHilarious! What we have here is a generation gap. Some young, mouthy toddlers, needing to relive some of their highlights of being ranked in championship level back in 16's not good enough to get a tennis scholarship versus some old buzzards hoping to fight off father time and their body's breaking down for a few more years and beat somebody ten or twenty years younger than themselves to boost their ego..Who will win the battle of "Does anyone really fucking care?" Holy crap Wakefield just one a game!! Notch one for the old farts..
ReplyDeleteHi, I am a Unicorn, and we think its awesome that you can refer to us as cheerleaders, thank you for taking our name serious enough to come up with something as amazingly creative as that. I applaud you! I hope you take our 5-0 record serious as well.
ReplyDeleteUnicorn? That a cheerleading team for a small town little girls softball team?
ReplyDeleteGo uni go, or go corns go, or is it goooooooooo corns?
ReplyDeleteWhy go halfway with "Unicorns"?
ReplyDeleteLLTC My Little Ponies
ED Hess used to be a 5.0 rated player, as are many players in the league who have all played their way down to 4.5. They tried to DQ him last year late in the SUmmer season, it was investigated and he was clear. This year the computer has him as a 4.5 B.
ReplyDeleteAsh
Unicorns WILL sweep Sienna 5-0.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother could sweep Sienna.
ReplyDeleteDespite that, I have seen Hurricane's, Chancellor's and Lakeside and Unicorn's are probably the best of the four.
Why are we still talking about Sienna? Lets talk about mixed.
ReplyDeletearen't you supposed to post scores within 48 hours, how do you enforce this?
ReplyDeleteCall HTA you penis
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't worry too much about Nicole Breaux. I don't think it will be long before she picks up three strikes.
ReplyDelete1,2 against Diep is pretty imprssive.
ReplyDelete2:20 - Someone has penis envy.
ReplyDelete2:31 - Where did the Nicole Breaux thread come from?
Any good matches or predictions for this week's matches in 4.0, 4.5 or 5.0 (mixed too : ))
ReplyDeleteWhich on of you guys wanted to include the women in this blog (mix)? dude. put a skirt on
ReplyDeleteYou cant beat the guys so you want to talk about mix? Wow Wow and Wow
ReplyDeleteI can beat the old men in league, but prefer to hang out with women. Unlike some of you has-beens with penis envy.
ReplyDelete4 top 9.0 mix teams
ReplyDelete1. LLTC Swingers
2. Sweetwater Has-Beens
3. Briargrove T-Force
4. Mason Creek 9.0
My grandmother could sweep Sienna.
ReplyDeleteDespite that, I have seen Hurricane's, Chancellor's and Lakeside and Unicorn's are probably the best of the four.
4:50 - Your #4 team got out the brooms and swept your #1 team, so I don't think you know what the F your talking about.
ReplyDeletemy pick for 9.0 mix is between has-beens and t-force.
ReplyDelete5:55- it'd be a different story if nicole breaux didn't play. i mean if monty needs to go out and find a junior player in order for him to win, that says it all. u suck with age.
ReplyDeleteokay guys, let's not bring in the wives, daughter in this, it's only tennis
ReplyDeleteif you can't handle trash talk or competition then don't play a sport, it's simple. this includes everyone.
ReplyDeleteDid you just pick swingers and number 1? They can't even get a line of Mason Creek, Marco and Julie kicked ass on one and they're not even a tough team. I don't think Tran knows how to run this team, as always he will try to get the best player so he can look good, but not looking good so far Tran.
ReplyDeleteT Force 9.0 rules, It's the Asian in us, that's how we roll
ReplyDeleteHmmm who was on 1 for Swingers? Hmmm Rios - ooooh imagine that. The biggest choker in the league.
ReplyDeleteIts funny how people will call out names like Rios, Tran, Red, etc but then will never say anything to their face. Instead, they kiss their butts and act like their best friends. How nice is it that you idealize these guys behind your keyboard since obviously the rest of your life isn't worth it. Blah blah blah. Quit being so jealous!
ReplyDeleteT Force!
ReplyDeleteHas-beens swinger t-FORCE up her Creek.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Soewito on the rag? Is she having her period, or can he just not stand all the new & amazing power of being league chairman? I guess if you are in charge the rules don't apply to you. Typical HTA BS!
ReplyDelete
